Are you responsible for planning chapter meetings?
Planning an enjoyable and productive chapter meeting is important.
Meeting tips
- Be sure to greet everyone - make them feel welcome
- Have IIE promotional materials and membership applications available. You can download them in the Promotional Material Center
- Free food is always good (snacks/beverages)
- Ask people to sign in(name, address, class year, e-mail address)
- Have a stated purpose or agenda and stick to it
- Stay positive- don't shout down initial proposals
- Close with announcing the date/time for the next meeting
- Thank everyone for participation when meeting ends
- Recognize those who helped make the meeting successful
- Follow through on any ideas or decisions
Meeting ideas
- Contact your local IIE professional chapter for a speaker (contact information can be requested from IIE Headquarters)
- Plan a joint event with your local professional IIE chapter
- Plan facility tours in your local area
- Make plans for a fall picnic or Bar-B-Q
- Discuss sending a delegation to the 2016 IIE Annual conference. Student volunteers receive $100 discount to conference. First come first serve basis - if interested, contact Bill Gibbs for more information
- Use Certification of Appreciation to plan a small ceremony for outgoing officers.
- Plan a membership recruitment activity (ideas will be in future issue of The Chapter Link).
- Discuss and plan going to local high schools to talk about Industrial Engineering as a profession, hold event for high school seniors or host "IE for a Day" event for a local high school student.
- Meeting to discuss "sponsor" possibilities and how to secure sponsorships.
