 IIE RVP Welcome

Vanda Ametlli
Vanda Ametlli

IIE was recently featured in "Today in America" with Terry Bradshaw. This video highlighted an array of industries that industrial engineers contribute their skills. As Industrial Engineers, we are all champions of this profession and we must strive to be involved in promoting our work while leveraging IIE resources. With Engineers Week 2013 approaching soon, I strongly urge all our 1,280 members to take part in outreach activities aimed at promoting our field.

2013 Regional Conference - University of Michigan

The University of Michigan will be hosting the 2013 Regional Conference during Feb. 15-17. Submissions for the Technical Paper Competition are due Jan. 25. Registration, lodging and conference program is periodically being updated. If your university or employer would like to be a sponsor of the conference, please contact Michael Parent at miparent@umich.edu.

All Ohio Meeting

The All Ohio Annual Meeting on Oct. 24 brought together more than 80 students and professionals from Wright State, Ohio University, Ohio State University, Youngstown University, Columbus Chapter and Dayton Chapter. As part of the event all new chapter officers participated in the installation ceremony led by Don Greene, IIE's chief executive officer. A special addition to the event was a panel discussion with the Council on Industrial Engineering, a group of highly recognized industrial engineers around the world. A reoccurring theme throughout the discussion was that skills of industrial engineers can be applied in any industry and that today's global problems go beyond applying lean thinking, they require a strong operations research background.

Keep in touch!
