Many changes have been taking place with Westlaw's databases.  Titles are changing, content is being moved, and content is being added exclusively to WestlawNext.

Lexis Advance is now the exclusive database for Lexis academic research.  When content migrated from Lexis.com to Lexis Advance, titles changed, the database was reorganized, and authors were added and deleted.

Cassidy Cataloguing is officially an approved cataloger for Westlaw Classic and WestlawNext for the academic market.  We have also been in close connection with the folks at Lexis to be sure records are completely accurate.  All Cassidy records feature deep linking - meaning that our records contain links which will bring a researcher directly to the resource, not just another search screen!

CassidyCat's Digital Law Library
What's included in CassidyCat's Digital Law Library?
Our digital law library consists of over 4,200 records (and growing monthly!) for free legal research websites that have been selected, evaluated, and annotated by our talented JD/MLS librarian.  This collection of records includes primary sources for all 50 states and federal agencies, sites for Homeland Security, the new White House access, international trade and customs, intellectual property law, criminal law, securities, banking, Civil Rights, law library best practices, OBS-SIS websites of the month, and a host of other topics!

Why use this service when we can catalog sites on our own?
"Link Rot" is a major issue (click here for an example from the New York Times of just how bad it can get!) and we work very hard to catch broken or redirected links as soon as we detect a problem. Each month, we run all Digital Law Library records through a process to retrieve the broken links and "404" Errors and fix those links! Some sites no longer exist and some have simply been changed, but our Monthly Update Service keeps up with these changes to be sure your users are always able to access the content.

Some examples of content cataloged in the Digital Law Library:
Summary: "This website features more than fifty primary sources from the collections of the Massachusetts Historical Society and the Library of Congress that reveal how slavery, and debates about slavery, contributed to the formation of the United States. Using letters, diaries, broadsides, artifacts, songs, legal notebooks, and photographs representing a variety of viewpoints, this site highlights the complex nature of ideas about slavery and freedom that circulated in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries."--Home page.

Summary: "Recent attention concerning National Security Agency (NSA) surveillance pertains to unauthorized disclosures of two different intelligence collection programs. Since these programs were publicly disclosed over the course of two days in June, there has been confusion about what information is being collected and what authorities the NSA is acting under. This report clarifies the differences between the two programs and identifies potential issues that may help Members of Congress assess legislative proposals pertaining to NSA surveillance authorities."--Summary.

Summary: "For every day Congress is in session, Capitol Words visualizes the most frequently used words in the Congressional Record, giving you an at-a-glance view of which issues lawmakers address on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis. Capitol Words lets you see what are the most popular words spoken by lawmakers on the House and Senate floor."--About statement.
