Telling the Difference on Campus
It shouldn't be difficult to explain why a short white man isn't a tall Asian woman. Right? But today's college students just can't tell you. See for yourself in these campus interviews HERE

BTW - Born out of moral relativism these answers are a fact-free new morality: "you do you - so long as it doesn't hurt me or someone else in a way that I immediately recognize." The new immorality is any act of "intolerance" that purports to interfere with one's radical autonomy.

What Men Can Do

A Song of God-given Masculinity
Over a decade before he began his famous collaboration with Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein wrote the lyrics for a song in the 1940 movie "New Moon." Titled "Stouted Hearted Men", it sums up powerfully his vision for what men can do when they bond with other men and, together, live out the fullness of their God-given masculinity. They just don't write 'em like this anymore:

Give me some men who are
stout-hearted men,
Who will fight for the right they adore.
Start me with ten who are
stout-hearted men
And I'll soon give you
ten thousand more.
Oh! Shoulder to shoulder and bolder and bolder,
They grow as they go to the fore.
Then there's nothing in the world can halt or mar a plan,
When stout-hearted men can stick together man to man.

& Smoke 'Em

Quotes to Ponder
"The best preachers are plagiarists. All they do is tell people what God has said." - Thabiti Anyabwile

The gospel in two powerful phrases:
#1 Cheer up! You're worse than you think! Your failures and flaws
are even deeper than you know. Your capacity for servant leadership is smaller than you imagine. Your selfishness is stronger than you've realized.
BUT....
#2 Cheer up! The gospel is far greater than you can imagine! God is not constrained by your limitations! God uses the weak, the flawed, the powerless. God loves to pour out his Spirit on
humble leaders who acknowledge
their need.
- Jack Miller

"The martyrs did not die because they believed the gospel, they died because they proclaimed the gospel."
- David Platt

"People may not agree with our theology but they shouldn't be able to argue with our lives." - John McGowan

The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible.
- DL Moody

"Worship is designed to remind you that in the center of all things is a glorious and gracious king, and this king is not you." - Paul Tripp
Male and Female: The Battle for God's Design
"We live in an age where foundational truths are being ignored and rewritten according to what fits with our fallen desires. And so we even call good evil and evil good as our culture morally crumbles around us.

"In every age Satan wants to attack the authority of God's Word because he hates God's glory. It was that way from the beginning (Gen. 3). In our day this one verse in particular is where the Word confronts the culture and what Satan wants to undermine.

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." (Gen. 1:27)

The sheer beauty of binary sexes created in the image of God with complementary physical and functional differences is thrilling. Yet this verse has been trampled in society and downplayed in the church. READ MORE HERE
The Fog of Gender Differences
Elisabeth Elliott. wife of the martyred missionary Jim Elliot (1956), was used of God in many mighty ways for seven decades. She once prophetically wrote about the gender identity crisis that has engulfed many in our culture today:

"Throughout the millennia of human history, up until the past two decades or so, people took for granted that the differences between men and women were so obvious as to need no comment. They accepted the way things were. But our easy assumptions have been assailed and confused, we have lost our bearings in a fog of rhetoric about something called equality, so that I find myself in the uncomfortable position of having to belabor to educated people what was once perfectly obvious to the simplest peasant." (1990)
What's Up with Men and Their Fantasy World
Many man today are wrapped up in a world of fantasy and also find it increasingly difficult to live by faith upon the God who is invisible.

In each of the examples below men (pornography, fantasy sports, and video games)  are giving themselves to something they can see but is not real. However, with Christianity we give ourselves to something that we cannot see but is actually real. (In these examples, I want to make clear that I believe the first is sinful but the others are not inherently so.)...

Is there any wonder why there is such a decline in biblical masculinity in the church? It is a shame that many men are far too busy conquering fake lands, looking at fake women, and winning fake championships to follow Christ's path of self-denying, cross-bearing, service... READ MORE

WACMM Fall Conference Keynoter Takes the Gospel To the Culture
Dr. Russ Moore, President, Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission
Dr. Russell Moore issues this clarion call to God's men to engage the culture without losing the Gospel:

"As the culture changes all around us, it is no longer possible to pretend that we are a Moral Majority. That may be bad news for America, but it can be good news for the church. What's needed now, in shifting times, is neither a doubling-down on the status quo nor a pullback into isolation. Instead, we need a church that speaks to social and political issues with a bigger vision in mind: that of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Christianity seems increasingly strange, and even subversive, to our culture, we have the opportunity to reclaim the freakishness of the gospel, which is what gives it it's power in the first place.

"We seek the kingdom of God, before everything else. We connect that kingdom agenda to the culture around us, both by speaking it to the world and by showing it in our churches. As we do so, we remember our mission to oppose demons, not to demonize opponents. As we advocate for human dignity, for religious liberty, for family stability, let's do so as those with a prophetic word that turns everything upside down.

"The signs of the times tell us we are in for days our parents and grandparents never knew. But that's no call for panic or surrender or outrage. Jesus is alive. Let's act like it. Let's follow him, onward to the future." Check out Dr. Moore new book Engaging the Culture Without Losing the Gospel

A Camaraderie of Confidence
"What does it look like to live a life fully committed to God and his kingdom? Despite having different callings in ministry, Charles Spurgeon, George Mller, and Hudson Taylor all stand as titans of faithfulness - trusting in the sovereignty of God in the midst of affliction, hardship, and loss - and their examples of steadfast confidence in God continue to motivate and inspire God's people, even today. A Camaraderie of Confidence is the seventh book in John Piper's popular The Swans Are Not Silent series. It highlights how the amazing lives and legendary ministries of these three men continue to illustrate what it means to hold fast to the promises of God."
