Featured Quote

"Every time we look at the cross Christ seems to say to us, 'I am here because of you. It is your sin I am bearing, your curse I am suffering, your debt I am paying, your death I am dying.'  Nothing in history or in the universe cuts us down to size like the cross. All of us have inflated views of ourselves, especially in self-righteousness, until we have visited a place called Calvary. It is there, at the foot of the cross, that we shrink to our true size." - John Stott,

How Should Men & Women Think of One Another
Our culture is always shifting. Society tells us who we should be as men and women, but its message keeps changing and moving away from how God created us. The Bible teaches us exactly who we are - men and women created equally but uniquely - equal but not the same. God's beautiful design for us is true and perfect, leading to joy and human flourishing. In this short video clip, Pastor Matt Chandler speaks God's design and unchanging plan for manhood and womanhood. Click HERE
Remembering Our Fallen Heroes - November 11, 2015

On November 11, 1985 President Ronald Reagan at Arlington Cemetery for the Veterans Day National Ceremony said the following words:

"All we can do is remember them and what they did and why they had to be brave for us. All we can do is try to see that other young men never have to join them. Today, as never before, we must pledge to remember the things that will continue the peace. Today, as never before, we must pray for God's help in broadening and deepening the peace we enjoy. Let us pray for freedom and justice and a more stable world. And let us make a compact today with the dead, a promise in the words for which General Ridgeway listened, "I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." (Joshua 1:5)

Preaching the Gospel to Yourself
Jerry Bridges writes, "To preach the gospel to yourself, then, means that you continually face up to your own sinfulness and then flee to Jesus through faith in His shed blood and righteous life. It means that you appropriate, again by faith, the fact that Jesus fully satisfied the law of God, that He is your propitiation, and that God's holy wrath is no longer directed toward you."

"Since the gospel is only for sinners, I begin each day with the realization that despite my being a saint, I still sin every day in thought, word, deed, and motive. If I am aware of any subtle, or not so subtle, sins in my life, I acknowledge those to God. Even if my conscience is not indicting me for conscious sins, I still acknowledge to God that I have not even come close to loving Him with all my being or loving my neighbor as myself. I repent of those sins, and then I apply specific Scriptures that assure me of God's forgiveness to those sins I have just confessed. Read More HERE
Quotes to Ponder and to Encourage
"It is in the chaos and suffering, when we are loving and getting no love in return, that we learn true manhood." - Paul Miller

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one."  - C. S. Lewis

"Christians in community are to never give up on one another, never give up on a relationship, and never write off another believer." - Tim Keller

"Beware of no man more than of yourself; we carry our worst enemies within us." - Charles Spurgeon

"Jesus smashed two of the rich young ruler's assumptions: Christianity is something you can ADD and something you can DO." - Tim Keller

"I want to go. God take me." The last words spoken by President Eisenhower 3-28-69 (8 yrs after he left the presidency).

"Humility is the mother of giants. One sees great things from the valley; only small things from the peak."

"Always drink upstream from the herd." - Will Rogers
"Doing Together What We Cannot Do Alone"
Brothers, the above saying has been our motto for nearly sixteen years of ministry in the Mid-Atlantic Region. It reminds us we're not meant to do life alone and we can't really pull it off in isolation and passivity. Men need to be in a loving, manly community with other men who will challenge them, have their back, speak grace and truth into their lives and remind them who they are in Christ. If your ministry wants to know what that looks like and how to move toward that kind of community, let us know. We'd be more than happy to chat with you.
