A Father's Day Book

Being the Dad Your Kids Need
John MacArthur, pastor and bestselling author, has penned a brand new book called "Being a Dad Who Leads."

MacArthur writes that God's primary call to married men is being the leader of his home by laying down his life for his wife every single day. He shares Scripture where God instructs men to love their wives sacrificially in the same manner that Christ laid down His life for His followers.

"Biblically speaking, your responsibilities as a husband and father come before everything else. That's how it was designed by God, who created the marriage union and the family unit as the earliest and most foundational elements of all human society. When the family breaks down, society breaks down as well. A strong family --- and a healthy society --- starts with the husband's leadership in the home."

If there's one book to read about becoming the Dad your kids need, this is it! More Information

The War on Boys - A Clarion Call to Fathers

 The War on Boys

One of our deepest concerns about the manhood crisis in our culture, and even in many churches, is the "War on Boys". Dr. Christina Hoff Sommers, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington DC, has done extensive research and writing about what's happening to boys and young men in our culture.

She is one of the keenest observers of this alarming trend and in this video clip she offers some practical ideas about how to help our boys to keep and enhance their masculine identity. Dr. Sommers says, "If boys are in trouble, so are we are!" And, of course, she's absolutely right, not only in terms of profound societal impacts but also its impacts in the Body of Christ. Dad: Coach, Cheerleader and Companion
Proverbs 17:6 says "...the glory of sons is their fathers" (NASB). The Hebrew root word for glory is weight. So we could translate the text,"...the weight of sons is their father".

In other words, fathers are meant to provide their sons substance and weightiness
for manhood. Through their dads, sons learn to be anchored and rooted in the Lord and not yielded to or carried off by the flesh, the world or the devil. Read More

"Unbroken" Could Be Movie of Year...

Laura Hillenbrand's 2010 blockbuster, award-winning book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption is coming to silver screen Christmas Day. Hillenbrand's bestseller recounts the inspiring true story of Louie Zamperini, who has lived a life almost too incredible to be believed.

In his youth in the 1930's, Zamperini was an incorrigible troublemaker and school bully but he could run like the wind. He became a champion runner and competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and so impressed Adolph Hitler and Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebels they asked for a personal meeting. In September 1941, he joined the US Army Air Corps and flew a number of combat missions in the Pacific as a B-24 bombardier. Read More
