Rodgers paints a wide range of subjects and subject matter, from lush American and European landscapes to intimate genre paintings, as well as elegant and sophisticated still life and floral renderings. His paintings reflect richness in tone and color in his style that comes from more than 30 years of professional study and numerous sojourns throughout America and Europe. His traditional and American impressionistic training has been augmented by his wanderlust traveling across the U.S. as a working artist, as well as his many trips abroad, including destinations such as England, Ireland, France and Italy. These journeys helped to produce the subject matter and inspiration that is the basis of his painterly impressionistic style. Rodgers’ paintings focus on the essential details emerging from a cohesive mass augmented with poetic highlights evolving into a hybrid fashioned from painterly and impressionistic inspirations in a contemporary sense. His intention is to capture the mood of the scenes he has painted “en plein air” and rendered in his studio to give the viewer a glimpse of what he has experienced. He tries to evoke an emotional response from the viewer through his poetic portrayal of nature and his concept of a tranche de vie (slice of life) vision. He has become quite popular with collectors both corporate and private, including jazz recording artist Michael Franks, Joseph M. Goryeb, President and COO at Champion Mortgage, CNBC spokesman and Wall Street investor, Peter Kenny, NHL hockey star Pat LaFontaine, Richard T. Merriman, President and CEO of Pennsylvania Trust, John W. Schmidlin, Chairman of JP Morgan, Pfizer Corporation and Rockefeller Trust. Rodgers has been affiliated with the Salmagundi Club in New York City and the Delaware Art Museum, and has received numerous awards, including Best in Show-CCA National Show at Ridgewood Art Society, Abigail & Willys Silvers Award-Bianco Gallery Show, and Best in Show-R.S. Galleries Juried Exhibition, Las Vegas. He is prolific by nature, and has had more than 26 one-man shows, with several recent shows nearly selling out. Rodgers currently resides in the bucolic countryside of Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. To view Jim Rodgers’ work, visit our online gallery. Featured Artist, May 2013
She has received many awards, including several from the Pen and Brush and Manhattan Arts International. In April 2001, Serwer had an article published in The Artist’s Magazine, entitled “Layers of Suggestion,” wherein she described how she creates pastel paintings. Two of her paintings were selected for the covers of Dan’s Papers and The Montauk Pioneer — both Long Island publications. Eileen Serwer received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College in New York and attended classes at the Art Students League and the Pastel Society of America, where she is a Signature member and taught a landscape workshop in April 2012. Serwer is also a Signature member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast, and a juried member of the Degas Pastel Society and the National Association of Women Artists. She is included in Who’s Who in America, Who's Who in the World and The National Association of Professional Women. Serwer’s paintings are included in both corporate and private collections throughout the United States, and abroad. They may be seen at The Fitzgerald Gallery in Westhampton Beach, NY and on her websites: www.eileenserwer.com and www.eileenserwerfineart.com. To view Eileen Serwer’s work, visit our online gallery.
