Two Concerns About Missions

This month I share with you 2 concerns about missions.

The first relates to money, especially to help fund missions in North America. Proceeds from the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering (AAEO) are used to establish churches and to spread the Gospel (Good News!) of Jesus Christ in North America.

The Good News is free to all who receive it by faith. But, though free to those who accept the gift, its costs to start churches and to spread the Gospel.

The national goal for Southern Baptists is $60 million. Mary Jo and I will participate in this worthy missions offering through our local church. I encourage you to do similarly through your local church.

The second concern relates to training for participating in the missions endeavors of the local churches. It's called EPIKS (Equipping People In Kingdom Service). The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m. - noon at Grays Hill Baptist Church in Beaufort. Several different seminars will be offered, each led by qualified persons. You will receive more information soon about this important opportunity. (By the way, "save the date"!)

Grace and Peace to all!

Welcome, Spring!!

As cold and dreary as the past few weeks have been, I can't wait for a consistent weather change toward warmer, sunnier skies! Spring makes me think of picking wild flowers, flying kites, and fishing...but maybe I'm old school! Spring also gets me excited for ministry opportunities that are gearing up. We currently have ten mission teams registered to work in our area this spring and summer, and we are now taking applications for summer missionaries! 2015 is going to be AWESOME!

Students in Beaufort and Jasper counties who are interested in serving as Summer Missionaries should talk with their pastor about receiving an application, which is due to the SRBA office by April 1st. Orientation will be held June 4th-6th, and the term of service is June 8th-July 18th. Further information can be found on the SRBA website or by contacting your pastor or youth pastor.

If you are looking for a flexible, affordable opportunity for your group to take a mission trip, I would love to discuss options that could fit your group's talents and availability. Several of our churches participated in local summer missions last year and had a blast ministering in different areas of our association. Options include beach ministry, sports ministry, multihousing ministry, campground ministry, kids clubs, and more!

It is also time to start collecting items for the Migrant Ministry Heath Kits and clothing donations for our migrant ministry program. Items to collect include: towels, wash cloths, bar soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, and comb. Kits are due to the office by May 29th. All gently used clothing is accepted, but the greatest needs are for men's jeans/pants, long sleeved work shirts, boots or work shoes, socks and children's toys.

Can't wait to see all that God is going to do in and through our ministry in the coming months! It's a joy to work with you!

Blessings,

Amanda
