There's Nothing Like Christmas!
Jan Daley's first Christmas release is ironic and appropriate in that after the first 12 classic and original songs on the album, it closes with a song she did at the end of each of her Christmas USO shows, touring with the great Bob Hope. Jan's "Silent Night" was a fitting close for this collection.
On "There's Nothing Like Christmas," Jan takes our favorite Christmas Standards and created her own fresh arrangements and made this 'one original album.'
When you hear "The Best Gift" you get chills, knowing this one is truly from the heart. Jan was told she would never have children, because of cancer at an early age, then gave birth to her miracle baby girl. You can see why she chose this song. Then she turns it around with "Winter Wonderland" and gets to let go of her bluesy side. And wait till you hear "The Christmas Song" as a Bossa Nova. Both so different and fun! When that silky voice starts singing all the beautiful and moving ballads, with lush orchestrations by Misha Segal & Craig Garfinkle, she will grab your attention.There is also a Jan Daley original called "Can't Give You Any Answers" that will stir the brain & heart.
