PT Clients of the month are Mary Goodman (MG) and Mary Weiss (MW). They train twice a week for an hour with Chris Leavy.
1.) How long have you been a personal training client?
MG: 5 years
MW: Since June 2012
2.) Why did you decide to hire a personal trainer?
MG: I had fitness goals, but little understanding of how to reach them.
MW: To stay motivated about working out, to become stronger, to improve my endurance and to train with a friend
3.) What were your initial goals? Why did you start a personal training program?
MG: To lose some pounds and get stronger.
MW: To get stronger and to lose "stubborn" weight. I have always used a personal trainer, and started with Chris immediately after I joined Steel Fitness Premier
4.) What is your biggest fitness accomplishment?
MG: Significantly increased strength and stamina and lost some weight.
MW: Gaining increased energy and confidence
5.) What advice would you give to someone considering personal training?
MG: Find a good trainer - certified - and give it a try.
MW: Don't hesitate - do it! Find a personal trainer that compliments your needs and go for it.
6.) What is your favorite thing about your trainer?
MG: He changes the routine constantly-the variety helps keep the workout interesting. Emphasis is on functional training.
MW: Chris doesn't let me "cheat" and constantly challenges me to do better. He has a great sense of humor!
7.) What is your next fitness goal?
MG: Challenge myself with new group fitness classes, maybe a 5k run.
MW: To incorporate more cardio into my exercise program and challenge myself to do different types of cardio
8.) In a sentence or two, tell us about your overall experience as a training client.
MG: I enjoy the experience and the results.
MW: The experience has been terrific. I get to train with a great friend and feel that Chris is knowledgeable and personable.
The "Marys" are great to work with. They always welcome a challenge and are not afraid to lift heavy weights to get strong. We chose them as PT clients of the month because they are a great example of the benefits of training with a friend - it is fun, encouraging and supportive. Training with a friend is also more cost effective (both clients pay for 30 minutes, but they get a full hour long personal training session.)
