HOT ROD WIRING KIT & TOUR

The test mule at Sacramento Vintage Ford was Bud Bryan's new '29 roadster pickup. Working under it is wiring guy and all-around guru, Ron Palmer.
Outside of the world of original Ford Model T's, A's and V-8 restoration, most rodders have been unaware that inside the Sacramento Vintage Ford warehouse is a section called "production."
This is where staff utilizes ancient machines to produce concours-stock, cloth-covered wiring harnesses for early Fords that feature all the correct terminals, brass bullet connectors, and other OEM details.
Over the years, those "crossover" guys (lucky stiffs with both a restored Ford or two and a hot rod) would come to the counter at Sacramento Vintage Ford and ask why they couldn't get an old-school wiring harness for their hot rod.
Now it happens that one of the people who make the Ford harnesses is our friend of 40 years, Bud Bryan, one of the pivotal editors of Rod & Custom, a man who was part of the R&C team that got '70-era rodders to start thinking about Flatheads, traditional cars, and long-distance driving to events. After a rod hiatus of eons, Bryan is finishing off a '29 roadster pickup full of collected old-school goodies.

HOT ROD POWER TOUR 2015  2015 HOT ROD Power Tour Breaks All Participation RecordsThe 21st annual HOT ROD Power Tour returned bigger and better in 2015 with participation growth that exceeded prior years and, in one city in particular, set a new world record. The HOT ROD Power Tour opened in Madison, Wisconsin, with record attendance and vehicle registrations, and continued to set participation records throughout the seven-day, seven-city journey, with more than 6,095 participants and 116,000 spectators traveling 1,500-plus miles to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  During the Power Tour's June 9 stop at the Memphis International Raceway, in Memphis, Tennessee, more than 110 tour participants spun their tires simultaneously on the raceway's dragstrip in an attempt to break the Guinness World Records for Largest Burnout, surpassing the previously held record of 107 cars set earlier this year in Australia. Gates open at 8:00 AM on August 15, 2015 and the show goes from 10:00 AM - 2:30PM. Show goes on rain or shine!   Click above to read the ACCC Presidents current message. From his message: In addition, the ACCC is opposed to SB8 Hertzberg and SB16 Beall. SB8, a bill that looks to start charging tax on services, i.e. labor. For collector car enthusiasts this would be additional taxes on labor. For example...that paint job that costs $10,000 with $2000.00 in materials and $8000.00 labor will cost approx $600.00 more with the tax being charged on the labor. SB16 looks to raise fuel tax by $.10 to $.14 per gallon and increase vehicle license fees by $35.00 per vehicle to fund road repairs. There is no argument that our roads are in need of repairs but California currently has a 6 billion dollar surplus...Let's use those funds to fix the roads and leave the California taxpayers alone. It's worth noting that the 6 billion dollar surplus goes up approx 2 billion dollars per year with hidden cap & trade tax that went into effect January 2015. NEW Proposed Tax on Services/Labor?

 SEMA Ignited, the official SEMA Show afterparty that is open to consumers, is primed to return this year after the SEMA Show closes on Friday, November 6, 2015.
Featuring a new location directly across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center, and a no-hassle route for vehicles exiting the SEMA Show, the 2015 SEMA Ignited will be easy to get to and include vehicles, food, music, celebrities, demonstrations and the culmination of this year's SEMA Battle of the Builders competition.
The inaugural event that took place in 2014 drew an estimated 12,000 individuals and more than 500 SEMA Show vehicles, including 168 that were entered in the premiere SEMA Battle of the Builders competition. The one-of-a-kind build off features the best builders from all over the world vying for the title of the Top Builder and was the focus of a Velocity TV special seen by more than a million fans throughout the world.

"Response to the first SEMA Ignited exceeded our expectations," said Chris Kersting, SEMA President and CEO. "The consumer turnout was outstanding, and the media coverage and social-media interest were greater than we could have imagined."
Plans for 2015 include an efficient, prearranged route for vehicles exiting the SEMA Show, heightened media opportunities, and added consumer-oriented activities.
"With the new location confirmed, we are looking forward to creating the greatest experience possible for those at SEMA Ignited," said Kersting. "We're excited about how the event is shaping up."

Stromberg owner, Clive Prew said: "With 750cfm in a three-carb package on a progressive linkage, you can cruise economically on the single Primary, then punch in the Secondaries when you step on the gas. BIG97s reduce the level of vacuum the engine has to pull to get the air it needs, which promotes higher air/fuel density. They also reduce mixture velocity which allows that denser, fuel-heavy air an easier, less turbulent, turn into the inlet manifold. Coupled with improved fuel conditioning, it all adds up to more power for your rear wheels."From the outset, Stromberg's aim was to re-engineer the 97 venturi and throttle body to maximize airflow without changing the signature outside shape. But achieving as much as 250cfm per carburetor - some 55% more than a regular new 97 (at 162cfm) is only part of the story.
