If Missouri off-road enthusiast Bob Chandler had been able to find durable replacement parts for his 1974 Ford F-250 in the local market, the phrase "monster truck" may never have been penned.  Instead, Chandler opened his own four-wheel-drive shop, built a truck that became known as "Bigfoot" to promote his business, and entered motorsport history. On April 18-19, at the Summit Racing Atlanta Motorama, a dozen of the 21 Bigfoot models built to date will reunite under one roof, reportedly for the only time in 2015.

Chandler, whose original background was in the construction business, opened Midwest Four-Wheel-Drive and Performance Center in 1975, with the assistance of his wife, Marilyn, and partner, Jim Kramer. Even before he owned a shop, Chandler was a frequent attendee and participant in the region's off-road events, and quickly realized that a demonstration vehicle could be used to showcase both aftermarket parts and the quality of his fabrication work. Knowing that a simple lift kit and slightly oversize tires wouldn't draw much attention, Chandler went big, grafting military axles with four-wheel steering and 48-inch tires to his four-wheel-drive Ford pickup. Power came from a performance-enhanced 460-cu.in. V-8, and the truck was a frequent sight at area tractor pulls, car shows and mud runs.

The "Bigfoot" moniker was originally given to Chandler himself, not for oversized shoes, but rather for his heavy-footed driving style that frequently taxed parts beyond their limit. As more and more money went into the shop's promotional truck, and as its components kept getting larger, Bigfoot seemed like a suitable name for more than just the driver. In 1979, Chandler and Bigfoot made their first paid public appearance, at a car show in Denver, Colorado.

Doritos is bringing its limited-edition "Roulette" bags to the U.S.

The packages include what appear to be regular nacho cheese flavored chips. But roughly one out of every six chips is super spicy, even though it looks like every other chip. Or as Frito-Lay VP-Senior Director of Marketing Jeff Klein puts it, "melt-your-face" hot. 

Odds were good that PepsiCo-owned Frito-Lay would eventually sell the gambling-themed bags stateside after marketing them in several global markets, including Mexico, where they debuted in 2012. When Roulette launched in Canada last year, the publicity spilled south of the border, including in outlets such as Buzzfeed.
"This is a product that has had some real success around the globe," Mr. Klein said. Frito-Lay envisions the company making the product a limited-time offer that comes and goes, like McDonald's McRib sandwich. Bags will appear in U.S. stores for only about 12 weeks. But when measured by distribution, the launch will be the biggest limited edition in the history of Doritos in the U.S., Mr. Klein said.

"I think a lot of people are going to want to do [buy] it once or twice with their friends, but I don't see it as an experience that it sustainable over a 52-week period," Mr. Klein said. "It is something that consumers will look forward to and we'll put a new twist on it every year."

South End Kustom was started by Dick Dean, the year was 1956 in Wyandotte, Michigan. Working for other shops, such as Clark/ Kaiser and the Alexander Brothers. South End Kustom stayed busy.  

In 1959, at the Detroit Autorama, Dick met George Barris. George had told Dick that he needed to be in California. At the end of that year Dick closed the shop and moved to California to work for Barris. In 2005, Dick Dean was set to retire. His son, Keith Dean wanted to continue the "Dean" tradition . As a tribute to Dick, Keith reopened the shop as South End Kustom and is continuing the old school kustom tradition set forth by his father.

Jim Ratsoy spent the past three decades selecting the best vehicles in North America for his collection.

VANCOUVER - A car dealer from China has purchased 100 classic cars and trucks from arguably the best and largest collection in the country.

Jim Ratsoy, a B.C. car dealer for nearly 50 years, spent the past three decades selecting the best vehicles in North America for his collection which spans six decades of automobile production.
Jim was a longtime Pontiac Buick dealer in Richmond. For a number of years, he drove a 1936 Ford convertible to work at his General Motors dealership almost every day.

He became a car dealer on his own in 1957 and acquired his first collector car two years later - a Model T Ford purchased from a local farmer in Northern Alberta who bought it new.


There are Chevrolet convertibles from all eras as well as pairs of both 1955 and 1957 Bel Air convertibles. Pontiac convertibles are represented from 1948 and 1958, and he has Oldsmobile convertibles starting with the first Rocket V8-powered Oldsmobile built in 1949.

Jim's collection ranges from 1906 to 1991, including a 1991 Buick Reatta with only 8,000 miles registered on the odometer.

"It is simply time for them to go and there is nobody around here that is interested," Jim says sitting in a century-old barber's chair amidst the collection he spent much of his life putting together.

He explains that his children aren't willing or able to look after the collection and a series of health issues led to his decision to liquidate.
