During WWII , U.S. airplanes were armed with belts of bullets which they would shoot during dogfights and on strafing runs. These belts were folded into the wing compartments that fed their machine guns. These belts measure 27 feet and contained hundreds of rounds of bullets. Often times, the pilots would return from their missions having expended all of their bullets on various targets. They would say, "I gave them the whole nine yards",meaning they used up all of their ammunition.

 Ron Pratte to sell off entire collection, including Futurliner

After spending more than 10 years and millions of dollars buying dozens of rare and one-off vehicles at auction, developer Ron Pratte has now decided to liquidate his entire collection at auction.

Known largely as the bidder in the front row at every Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction, Pratte, of Chandler, Arizona, reportedly got his start in collector cars when he bought 52 vehicles at the 2003 Scottsdale auction. The founder and former CEO of Pratte Development Company - who has an estimated net worth of $350 million - Pratte has set auction records with several of his purchases, including the $4.1 million he spent in 2006 on a GM Futurliner, one of 21 built and nine to still exist, and the $5.5 million he spent a year later on the last remaining 1966 Shelby Cobra Super Snake.

The guitar was a personal gift from Carlos Santana to Matt Santana (no relation), as Matt is responsible for several of Carlos' personal vehicles. When Rick inquired about a donated guitar for the Live-On Drive-On charity auction, Matt mentioned that Carlos was not in town, and that he was on tour.

 However, Matt offered up his own guitar for the event!
Matt just needed to make sure that it was O.K. with Carlos that the gift guitar would be donated.

Carlos was very pleased that it was going to be a part of
this event. Nice job Matt!

Each year, the L.A. Roadsters put on one of the largest roadster shows, swap meets, and commerical vendor shows in Southern California.

The show is always held on Father's Day Weekend in June of each year at the Fairplex in Pomona, Caliifornia.
