What Is This "Control Scan"?
  
If your credit cards are being processed using Verifone's Product known as Point, you may have received a letter from Control Scan Support and might be wondering what that is. Conrtrol Scan is a 3rd party that has partnered with Verifone. As part of your contract with Verifone, it is Control Scan's task to provide you with the tools needed to validate and maintain your PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance.

What is PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance

As a quick review, remember that PCI compliance is a mandated program by the credit card industry (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, etc.) and your participation is now required. This compliance basically says that you and your business practices regarding the safe and secure handling of credit cards and credit card data in your store complies with the mandated PCI standards.

Below, we'll discuss what Control Scan offers and what you need to do.
What Does Control Scan Offer?

ControlScan will provide you with the necessary tools to validate PCI compliance including the following:
  • SmartSAQ
  • SmartScam
  • PCI 1-2-3 Policy Builder
  • PCI 1-2-3 Security Awareness Training
  • Personal Touch Support via telephone, email or online chat
What Do You Need to Do?

You may be wondering what you should do or maybe you have received some emails and you are wondering what they mean. 

You should make sure you get started by doing the following:
  • Visit www.controlscan.com/verifone
  • Select "Click here to start PCI Program" within your compliance window.
  • Log in using your username and password provided in a previous email from Verifone/Control Scan.
If you have misplaced your login credentials or need any type of assistance from ControlScan, contact ControlScan support at 1-800-370-9180 and have your merchant ID available.

If you have not gone through the steps mentioned above, you may get a letter from Verifone/ControlScan reminding you that you have not logged into your merchant compliance portal. Just follow the steps above and then follow what the SmartSAQ asks you to do. This is an application that will route you to the appropriate Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ). This questionnaire needs to be filled out at a minimum of once a year.
