The first step of setting up gift cards as a valid payment form is to go to System | Company Setup | Payment Types. Scroll down the list of payment types until you get to "Credit Card Software." Make sure "Point" is selected and check the Gift Card check box. You may also enable "Auto Submit to MX Unit" to allow for quicker communication between TransActPOS and the MX Unit and establish a Gift Card Redemption GL Account. Once you have finished, click Save. Note: Gift Cards must be enabled in your Point account settings as well.

Once you have done the previous step, a "_GIFT_CARD" item will be created in the Inventory File. You can double check this by finding that item in your inventory. In order to sell a gift card at Point of Sale, enter the item ID "_GIFT_CARD" or scan the UPC that has been entered in the "_GIFT_CARD" Lookup By tab in IC | Inventory File (See help file for more information). Once the gift card has been entered, enter the dollar amount to put on the card. Afterwards, finish scanning any additional items and End Sale.

Once payment has been tendered for the invoice, you can select "New" or "Existing" card (new for brand new gift card; existing for reloading an existing gift card). Once you have selected one of the options, the card will need to be swiped in the MX Unit to be activated.
