Starting the New Year Right (Friendly Reminders)
Happy 2015! It is a new year, so what better way to start the new year off right with some friendly reminders. This week, we are going to remind you to check a few things to ensure this new year begins strong and your store will function as desired!

Update TransActPOS
I'm sure you've heard it all the time, but keeping TransActPOS up-to-date can not only prevent you from having problems, it can also provide you with new and improved features! To check if you are up-to-date, check the version number by clicking the TransActPOS logo in the top right of the program and see how it matches to the number listed on the weekly newsletter (under the links). If you are on an older version, updating is really easy!
Simply click on System | File Maintenance | Update Menu and click Website Download. This will download the latest version to your system. Once the download is complete, click Perform Update. Make sure you are not busy with customers, as updating will require the system to exit out of TransActPOS.
Backup
We have also discussed in a few newsletters the importance of backups. This includes data and battery backups. Since this is a new year, it would be a good time to make sure your battery backups are working properly
and the data backup service (if you are using one) is up and running. There is nothing worse than your power going out and you being in the dark or a disaster to occur and you have lost all the data on your system.
For the battery backup, make sure the devices you will need power for in case of a power outage are plugged into the battery side of the UPS and unplug the UPS from the wall. If the devices are still on, you are good to go. Battery backups are not meant to last for hours and you also want to make sure the battery is relatively new.
For data backup, give us a call to either see if data is backing up properly or to sign up or learn more about data backup. This is a great service to have in case of a disaster. You never know when disaster is going to strike!
