Future POs
A Future Purchase Order is a PO created for a later date. TransActPOS is setup to perform these purchase orders from the beginning. In this week's newsletter, we are going to look at how to establish these purchase orders, how to perform a report to view all future POs, and how they affect purchase orders you create today.
|
Overview
To begin the process of creating a Future PO, go to PO | Create PO and select the vendor as you normally would. Once you are on the main purchase order screen, add the items and information as you normally would for any other PO. To make this a Future PO, you must change the Request Date.
To do this, either type in the date or right click in the Request Date field on the Main tab of the purchase order. Enter the date you wish the purchase order to be ordered on and click Save. This will keep the order in your system for the selected future date.
|
When this is completed, the system will not see this as a current order until the Request date has been reached or afterwards. If you would like to see a listing of all Future purchase orders, you can run the PO Listing report under PO | Reports and set the date range accordingly.
Future POs are very useful when you are wanting to ensure a certain product gets ordered, but you are not wanting to put it on order immediately. This can be useful for seasonal items or items you know customers will be buying at a certain point in time.
Next week we will look at how the Reorder Report and Future POs are related.
