Employee Discounts  

Within eNews #49-51, we took an in depth look at customer discounts. This week, we are going to look at a specific use case for creating a group discount for your employees, great for if you want your employees to get a discount on everything except for a few items or all items in a certain class.  Most stores give their employees a discount on items within the store as a thanks for their hard work and dedication.  

Setup                                            
Before you can setup a customer discount, you have to make sure every employee is a customer within your AR | Customer File. Once your customers are in your system, you can begin creating a discount group.

To do this, go to IC | Support Files | Discount Groups. Once you click New, enter a Group ID for the new discount group. This ID will help distinguish this group from the other discount groups. You will also need to add a description (Employee Discount). Once the basics are established, you need to add items to the group by clicking the Add button.



 
When adding items, you can add items based on several parameters. You can add individual items or items with a set class, code, fine, sub fine, or manufacturer. After entering the information on the left side, you will need to enter the discount this group will receive on the items specified. If you want to give the employees a 10% discount, enter 10.00 in the "Discount from Retail Price" field. You can also enter a "Cost Plus" price based on a particular cost. Once you are satisfied with the discount, click OK. You can keep adding items as desired to this discount group.

The final step is to locate your employees within your customer file. After pulling them up, go to the Settings tab. Click the Pricing Discounts button and select New Group. This will bring up a list of the created discount groups in your system. Select the employee group you just created and this employee/customer will be added to the group, giving them the proper discount. Continue to do this for other employees as needed.
