Mass Item Changes   

Last week, we discussed Product Codes and how to set them up within TransActPOS. We also talked very briefly about a feature that can assist in changing the Product Code for multiple items called "Mass Item Change." This tool located in IC | Maintenance allows you to make changes to a grouping of items all at once. In this week's newsletter, we will look at what item information can be changed with this utility and how to do so.  

Item Selection Filter                                                               Change Information
When you first open the Mass Item Change utility, you will be brought to the Item Selection Filter screen. Here, you need to enter filters to narrow down the items within your inventory. This is much like running a report and entering filters to only report on a select few items. The more filters you enter, the less items will appear.

Once you have entered the filters, click the Apply Filter button to get the list of items. Another option to enter is to check the box next to the item value that says "Find Blank." This will locate any item that doesn't have a value in the field you have checked the box for. If you change the filters after the items are listed, clicking Apply Filter will reapply the filters and give you a new listing. 
After getting your list of items, click Next to be taken to the "Change Information" screen. This is where you select the items in the list below and enter information to change. The drop down menus contain values that are already existing in your system. If you do not see a desired value, you must exit out and create the value you want.

There are check boxes next to most values on this screen as well. When they are selected, you will replace whatever value is currently existing on the item for the selected field and replace it with a blank. There are also availability, special order, and discount options available. Once the changes are entered, click the "Preview Changes" button, This will NOT make any permanent changes. This will alter the list below to reflect the changes and allow you a chance to make additional changes before finishing this process.  


Once the previewed list below matches what you want, click the Next button to reach the final step, "Review Changes." This screen will show the list of changes, much like the Change Information screen does when you click Preview Changes. If you are happy with the changes, click the Save button to finalize it.
