Customer Discounts (Part 3)
TransActPOS offers a variety of discounting. This discounting can come in the form of a general discount, customer discount, or coupons. This is the final installment of our discussion of Customer Discounts. These are customer specific and can provide discounts on a broad range of products.

Product Codes
The Product Code Matrix is used to establish group pricing for various customers. To access this, click on IC | Support Files | Product Codes. These codes are assigned to individual items, allowing for up to six different groups of pricing. Once you are on the Product Codes Matrix Setup screen, you will see the product codes on the left side of the table and the groups A-F along the top. For the product codes you wish to use, you must first select a base for the group. This is the basis for the price. There are seven to choose from and they are as follows:
- None: The price for this group will be the same as retail
- Retail - : Retail price minus the entered percent
- Cat Cost + : ECatalog cost (or last cost if no catalog) of the item plus the entered percent
- Avg Cost + : Average cost (or last cost) of the item plus the entered percent
- Cat Cost GM: Allows a gross margin gain for the item, based off of the ECatalog cost (percent entered will be your gross margin)
- Avg Cost GM: Allows a gross margin gain for the item, based off of the average cost (percent entered will be your gross margin)
- Manual: Allows you to enter an amount manually in the percent field
Once the base has been selected, enter a value in the percent field for the same group you entered the base (Group A Base goes with Group A Percent and so on). Continue this process for the multiple groups and the multiple product codes as desired. When you are finished, click Exit in the lower right hand corner. The system will ask if you wish to save your changes. Click Yes and you will be returned to the main menu.
To apply the product codes to an item, first click IC | Inventory File and locate the item you want to apply the product code to. On both the General tab and the Prices tab, you can select a product code from the Product Code drop down menu. This will automatically apply the pricing you entered before into the various group fields. To view the different prices, click the Prices tab and view the different groups in the lower left.
Finally, include a customer in a group, locate the customer in AR | Customer File and click on the Settings tab. Select the group you wish to assign the customer to in the Pricing drop down menu and click Save. This will automatically check for group A pricing on items when sold to this specific customer. If there is no group A price, the system will give that customer the lowest price possible for that item.

Sales Discount
If you are wanting to give a customer a flat percentage discount on any item sold in your store (employee discount, frequent customer discount, etc), TransActPOS will let you do that. First, go to AR | Customer File and locate the customer you want to give the sales discount to. Next, go to the Accounting tab and while in edit mode, enter a percent in the "Sales Disc." field. Clicking save will finish this process and when the customer is entered at Ring Sale, they will receive the set discount on their purchase (as long as the item allows discounting).
