Recently, we released TransActPOS version 3.036. In the eNews #40, you learned about two of the new features in this update: Rounding Table and Gross Profit %. This week, we are going to take a look at three more features: New menu layout, Messenger, and Report favorites.

If you have been using TransActPOS prior to version 3.036, the main menu you have been looking at is now known as the "Version 3" main menu. After version 3.036, a new option located within System | Company Setup | Properties | Company Information called "Menu Choice" allows you to change your main menu layout to the new "Version 4" menu. This menu stretches the main menu across your entire monitor. Similar to version 3, the modules will appear on the left side of your screen. The major differences is that the menu functions (Login/Logout, Calculator, Time Clock, etc.) are along the top of the screen and when you select a module, the module functions appear to the right of the module bar.

Along with version 3 and version 4, you can select the "Version 4 w/ Auto Select" option that looks just like version 4 but allows you to hover the mouse cursor over the module to display the module functions instead of having to click on the module first. The final option is "Workstation Specific." Normally, the menu layout selected will affect all workstations on your network. If you select "Workstation Specific," you can select a menu layout for each individual workstation. If "Workstation Specific" is selected, the menu layout is selected on each workstation in System | Workstation.

The Messenger feature allows you to send messages to users on your network, without having to send an email from an external program or calling someone by phone. To access the Messenger, click the Messenger button on the main menu. This will bring up your inbox, displaying any messages you have or have not read. If a message is unread, it will have a closed envelope icon. If the envelope is opened, the message has been read. Double clicking the message will open it, allowing you to view the contents and reply if necessary.

To create a new message, click the Compose button. This will bring up the "Compose Message" screen. There are two types of messages to send: Message and Schedule. Message allows you to enter multiple users to send the message to, a subject line, and a brief message. You can also attach an image by clicking the Image button in the lower left hand corner. A Schedule type message allows you to enter a time and date to the message. Once the message is complete, click the Send button to send it to selected user(s). The great thing about this new feature is if you get a new message, but are busy in the Ring Sale screen, when you complete the sale, the system will notify you that you have a new message and allow you to jump to the Messenger with the click of a button.
