Inventory Cycle
The Inventory Cycle is the process of maintaining your inventory. There are many perks in maintaining your inventory in this five step process. It will help with reordering product, provide an accurate history of sales, and increase customer satisfaction. TransActPOS offers many features to help in this process.
|
- Adding items to the inventory: TransActPOS has many features that quicken the process of adding items into inventory. These features include the Inventory Add Wizard, where you plug in the values of the inventory items as the system asks for them, Cloning, which allows you to make a duplicate of an existing item in the inventory, and Auto Add, which will automatically add items when they are scanned and are not found in your system, but are found within the ECatalog.
- Ordering items for the inventory: TransActPOS is set up to allow ordering based on a variety of values. The easiest is to walk around the store and scan items to be reordered with a wireless scanner. You may also choose to reorder based on the previous week's sales. There are also fields that you can enter in values for that establish an automatic ordering relationship once stock drops below a certain number.
- Receiving the items: Once the items have come in from an order, they must be entered into the system. The most common method of receiving is to select Receive Inventory on the main menu under IC. This allows you to scan the items and quickly enter the quantity and cost of goods. Items placed on a Purchase Order can be "received in full" if the entire order is correct. This saves time if you are going to receive the entire order anyways. You just have to make sure that what you ordered is EXACTLY what you received. You may also pick and choose items on a Purchase Order as well.
- Maintenance: All things need maintaining and your inventory is no exception. Item prices change all the time and making sure your inventory is up to date is crucial to ensuring you are getting the right price for your items. You can go into the individual item's file and change the price manually, but if there are multiple prices to be changed, the Mass Pricing tool is very useful. You can also utilize the ECatalog Price Control. This will update all items from your ECatalog in the event that your vendor has changed prices/costs within it.
- Selling the items: All the previous steps are leading into this one crucial step. If all the above go smoothly, your sales clerks will be able to process invoices more smoothly. If there is a problem with a specific item, the sale should be completed and that item should fixed immediately to avoid problems piling up and slow sales.
The above information is detailed in more depth in the following document. Feel free to read through the document and keep it for your records to help your Inventory Cycle.
