Tip of the Week
Gift Receipts
The gift giving season is upon us, where customers go store to store trying to find the perfect gifts for their friends and family.  Many times, customers aren't sure if their gift will be received well and will want a gift receipt to include with the gift.  The "Gift Receipt" option within TransActPOS is an easy way to provide the gift recipient a receipt if they wish to return the item without the recipient seeing the price of the gift.

Setting up your TransActPOS system to print out gift receipts is simple.  Go into the Company Setup menu within the System tab on the Main Menu and click on the Properties tab.  From here, click on POS Information 1 and about halfway down the left column of options is an option called "Include Gift Receipt for Gift."  Enabling this will print out a gift receipt every time a gift is purchased via Ring Sale.  To mark an item as a gift item in Ring Sale, highlight the item and click the "Gift Item" button or press Ctrl + F3.  Once this is done, select "Gift To" to enter in the recipient for the gift.

Wish Lists (Gift Registry)
In TransActPOS, there is an additional module that can be purchased to manage Gift Registries.  Gift Registries are very useful and are used daily in big name retailers for baby showers, weddings and other events.  Once the registry is set up, your customer pick up a thumb scanner and scan the items they desire to have in their registry.  The resulting registry can be a guide for friends and family in determining what gift to buy.

To create a Wish List, go to the Options menu on the Main Menu of TransActPOS and click on Gift Registry (if you don't see this option, you do not have it installed).  Once you have opened the Registry Form, you will see an image similar to the one shown above.  After clicking Add, change the type of Registry (top-left drop down menu) to Wish List.  Once this is done, you can enter in the rest of the information for this Registry, including an Event name, the date of the event, and the name and personal information of the registry customer.  You can associate the registry customer to a customer within the Customer file of Accounts Receivable.  Clicking Save will enter it into the system.

Once the registry is saved, you can perform other tasks.  Clicking on the Event Details button will allow you to enter notes for the registry.  A Symbol 1504 mobile scanner (shown below) can be used to scan various items in the store.  To add items from the thumb scanner (or manually if you choose to do so) click the Add button on the Items tab and select the "Symbol 1504" button (select "Individual Item" to enter an item manually).

Print Registry will do just that, print out the registry.  The printed registry shows the registered items with bar codes and item IDs, a description, the requested quantity/purchased quantity and the price.  You may also edit existing items on the registry with the Edit button or delete them altogether with the Delete button.  To read more about creating Gift Registries, click here and search for "Creating a Gift Registry."

At any time, the recipient may ask for a listing of gifts received and by whom.  You can do this by going into the customer's file, going to the reports tab, and clicking on the Gift Report.

Wish Lists provide an easy way to keep all of your gift ideas in one place, allowing for multiple people to come and shop off of one list.  With the holidays coming up, this feature may come in handy when customers come in the store shopping for gifts!
