Shifting our thinking, shifting our focus, reducing costs, re-alignment, integration, transformation, evidence-based practices, Recovery Oriented Systems of Care- the list goes on.  As providers we wonder: how will we thrive in an era of change. How will re-aligning systems and reducing costs benefit individuals, families and communities?  And how will we help people to achieve a life in the community? The aim of a recovery oriented system is to help people live a substance free life of good health, nurturing relationships, self-sufficiency, and hope for a productive future.  Within a ROSC framework the question shifts from "How do we get the client into treatment?" To "How do we support the process of recovery within the person's life and environment?"

At the end of the presentation participants will:
  • Understand ROSC; its characteristics, elements and implications for services
  • How and why treatment looks different in a ROSC
  • Understand the importance of role clarity within an ROSC (counselor, clinical supervisor, manager, payer)
  • Hear about at least one actual example of how ROSC is being implemented around the country; and
  • Understand what is meant by Transformational Change and its importance in developing a ROSC
