A Personal Note from Michelle... |

Hi (Contact First Name)!
The holiday season is a time for family and friends. Many people use this occasion to get together and celebrate with an annual tradition of travel. We're all so busy in our daily lives that travel is the best opportunity to reconnect and be thankful for everything in your life. With careful planning and preparation, a travel specialist can help select the right vacation and get the best value.
Why Use a Travel Specialist? Knowledge: Your travel specialist brings destination expertise, exclusive specials, amenities and promotions. Travel specialists have long-standing supplier relationships which can be utilized to help you create the vacation of a lifetime. Travel specialists are "in the know" and are often aware of upcoming specials and promotions before the general public. Working with your travel specialist will help establish the best time to travel.
Savings: Think a travel specialist is too expensive? Think again. Rather than paying more for your vacation, you are likely to pay less and get more. Travel specialists save you time and assist in finding the best value for your vacation. We all know that value is not the same as price.
Peace of Mind: Finally, your travel specialist is there for you before, during, and after your trip. Clients have access to my personal cell phone should they need assistance at any time. So, what corners of the earth have you been considering? An exotic tropical island? A European river cruise or African tour and safari? Simplify your decision-making by contacting Ticket to Travel today. You'll be thankful you did.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and happy travels!

Winter Travel Survival Tips
When everything goes according to plan, flying is an incredibly quick and convenient way to travel. Alas, things don't always work so well. The recent storms in and around New York City demonstrated just how much airlines can alter their operations in case of weather events, with more than 20,000 flights canceled over the course of a week. As a traveler it is important to know both how to respond when plans go awry and also how to mitigate the chances of getting stuck in the first place.
Got a travel agent? (Yes, you do!): If you book a flight directly through an airline then you have to deal with that airline for any issues which arise. If you book through a travel agent, including online agents like Expedia, Orbitz, or Travelocity, those companies should act on your behalf to help solve issues. If you're stuck at the airport consider having one member of your party call the airline and another call the travel agent. One might be able to get better results or get through to an agent more quickly than the other. No guarantees, but having two options may work in your favor versus just one. And traditional travel agents, the ones you pay to help you rather than just a website, are even better at fixing problems; it might be worth the small investment if you're headed on a big trip.
Bigger planes are more likely to fly: When the airlines have to cut flights to account for weather delays it will be the smaller planes on shorter flights which are cut first. If you have a choice, take the bigger plane.
Early flights are on-time more often: Delays build throughout the day. Crews running just an hour late may ultimately not be able to operate their last scheduled flight of the day because of regulations regarding the number of hours they can work. Flying earlier in the morning usually can help avoid those problems, though it often means an unfortunately early wake-up call.
Some airports are more on-time than others: More runways means more likelihood of on-time operations. In the New York City area, for example, JFK is more likely to be close to on-time than LaGuardia or Newark, not that any of the three have great on-time ratings overall. And if you are forced to take a connection look at the chances of weather impacting the connecting airport. Flying through Chicago in the winter is more likely to see a snow storm impact your flight than connecting in Dallas or Houston. |

Apple Cranberry Tart

An elegant dessert to enhance any festive gathering
Here is one of the recipes we have collected while traveling through France-the almond paste, an ingredient often used in French baking, gives this delicious dessert a Continental flavor. Serve alone or top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy many apple-based pastries on a Paris & the Heart of Normandy cruise through a region famous for its apple orchards.
Ingredients:
One unbaked, room-temperature 9-inch tart shell One roll (about 7 ounces) almond paste One cup fresh cranberries Five medium-sized apples (preferably Macintosh), peeled and sliced to make approximately 5 cups A quarter cup sugar One teaspoon cinnamon A half cup uncooked oats A half cup all-purpose flour A half cup brown sugar Six tablespoons unsalted butter, very cold or frozen A quarter cup sliced almonds Vanilla ice cream
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Flatten almond paste on a sheet of wax paper with a rolling pin, to form an 8-inch circle. Press almond circle into the bottom of the unbaked tart shell. In a bowl, combine cranberries, apples, sugar and a half teaspoon of cinnamon. Pour on top of almond circle, into tart shell. In a bowl, combine the remaining cinnamon, oats, flour and brown sugar. Cut butter into very small pieces and stir into cinnamon mixture until crumbs form. Spoon crumb mixture evenly over the top of the apple mixture. Bake 50-60 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced almonds during the last 5 minutes of cooking time. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
Makes 6 servings. |
