School Board Selects Architect for One New High School

On Monday, November 5, the Board of Education selected Walter Robbs Callahan & Pierce Architects, PA to review, revise and update a design for a new Davie County High School. WRCP will take the existing design and revise it to include capacity for all students currently attending Davie County High School - a minimum of 1800 students and a minimum core capacity of 2000. The firm will update the design to include space for all educational program areas in a 21st Century high school, including academics, arts, career and technical education, etc. The firm will also update the site plan to include all athletic facilities, including a stadium. In addition, the firm will work with district staff to develop a repurposing plan for the existing Davie County High School campus that will meet needs of both the school district and community. Upon completion of the revisions and updates, WRCP will provide a cost estimate for construction, contingency, soft costs necessary to furnish and equip the school, and the costs necessary to repurpose the existing high school campus to meet the needs of the school district and community use. WRCP will work with district staff, administration, and teachers at Davie County High School throughout this review and revision process, and will present a recommended design for one new consolidated high school to the Board of Education.
