New Autism Registry Hopes to Boost Research Participation Rates
In an effort to increase research participation in the autism community, a group of academic medical centers has collaborated to launch an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) sub-registry within ResearchMatch.
The new ASD sub-registry helps act as a matchmaker, linking families with autism researchers around the nation and only takes about 5 minutes for volunteers to register.

PHPID Strategic Area and Program Grants
Public Health Preparedness for Infectious Diseases (PHPID) has announced the 2013 Strategic Area and Program Grants Competition.
These awards support the PHPID mission to improve global health and wellness by reducing the threats of infectious diseases through innovative interdisciplinary research, education and outreach.
Pilot funding for OSU/Children's Muscle Group
The Muscle Group from OSU and Nationwide Children's Hospital is looking to increase collaborations among basic and clinical scientists across both campuses.
To expand their membership and areas of research, the group is offering pilot funding of $50,000 for one year, awarded to researchers with direct or indirect interests in the areas of skeletal muscle development or pathology, the neuromusculature, or muscle - bone interactions.

The 2013 CCTS Scientific Meeting,"Building Healthy Communities" was a success!
Topics included prescription drug misuse, improving clinical practices, addressing cultural differences in research participants, innovation in the medical field and more.
Led by keynote speaker, Michael Botticelli, Deputy Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control, attendees heard about new strategies being used in current research and engaged in several discussions.
Follow some of the discussion on Twitter by searching #Research2013, and keep an eye out for the lectures and presentations to be posted on the CCTS website early next week.

Bakaletz's needle-free approach harnesses the immune power of the skin to produce antibodies that can protect against the development of ear infections.
