JAMS Fest is Coming!
Its that time again! The annual Jamaica Arts & Music Festival is back for another year of culture, music, shopping, fun and lots of surprises. This two day festival begins August 2 with a live evening concert at Rufus King Park. Check out up and coming musicians as they showcase a variety of talent. August 3rd is Day two! That is when the the streets of Jamaica Avenue, from Parsons Boulevard to 169th Street, open up to vendors of all types offering food, clothing, information and all types of bargains. Visit the music stage, try the bouncy houses, have a ball! See you at JAMS Fest.

Dance, Dance, Dance!
Calling all teen dancers! Auditions for a spot in the newly formed Distraction Dance Company are beginning. Auditions are August 1st and 2nd from 5-7P at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center, 153-10 Jamaica Avenue. Contact ahutchinson@jcal.org with any questions or additional details.

Chess Tournament!
The NYPD 2nd Annual Chess Tournament takes place this month! Four age categories will be playing. Register by August 16th to secure your spot! The tournament takes place at Roy Wilkins Park. Participation and Registration is FREE!

CityRib, an elegant sit down restaurant specializing in barbecue: chicken, ribs, sauce, recently opened its doors in the District. Located at 89-04 Parsons Boulevard, just steps from the Jamaica Center Transit Hub and a block away from the Parson's Blvd Subway station, it is a great place to stop off after work with friends.
