Calling All Artists...
We Need Your Help Designing the La revista Cover!

We are so proud to have a school of prolific writers whose work will be
showcased in the 3rd edition of La revista.  Now we are looking for
artists to design the cover.

The trim size of the book is 6x9". Final cover art needs to be able to
be placed proportionately on the cover. There also needs to be at
least a inch border on all sides.
If the image is to be contained
on the page and not bleed, then we should leave about inches
on all sides. Images can easily be resized, so it does not have to
be the exact right size, but it should be able to be reduced or enlarged
proportionately.

Please turn in your La revista cover design entry (be sure and write your
name on the back) to your classroom teacher no later than March 23rd.

SLP Offers Gifted & Talented Programs
Beginning in Grade 2

St. Louis Park Schools offers Gifted and Talented programs for high
achieving learners beginning in Grade 2. Our program is designed
to nurture the social, emotional, intellectual and creative abilities of
students with exceptional abilities. We screen learners district-wide
for this program at regular intervals. Decisions about Gifted and
Talented learner identification include a multiple-measure identification
process using a combination of academic achievement and ability testing.

Gifted students often share many of the following characteristics:
  • Skills of abstraction, conceptualization and synthesis
  • Intrinsic motivation to learn or explore; highly inquisitive
  • A Large vocabulary; the ability to read quickly and deeply
  • Fast rate of learning with little need for repetitive practice
  • Proficiency to work independently and concentrate for long periods of time
  • A large storehouse of information on many topics
  • Intensity in energy, imagination, intellect and persistence
A substantial body of research shows that the academic, social and
emotional needs of gifted students benefit from specialized learning
opportunities such as our Gifted and Talented program. If you have
questions about the program at our school, please contact
Carmen Baysinger at [email protected] or by calling,
952-848-5511.
