When Daz was surrendered, we wondered how quickly we could find him a home. You see, he was a young pitbull AND he was deaf!
As it turned out, two people were very interested in him and came to visit Daz frequently. One of them was Channon Kirchner.
On the same day Channon was ready to adopt Daz, he heard someone else had filled out an application on "his" dog. He headed to the shelter immediately. However, as he pulled up he could see Daz was already being adopted.
When he walked in, he realized it was his good friend Jason standing there with Daz. Channon gave the best speech of his life on why he should have Daz. When he was done, Jason agreed!
From that day on, Channon and Daz have been inseparable. Channon explains that the bond between them makes Daz's deafness a non-issue. They are in tune with each other. Channon says Daz is the best dog he's ever had.
Channon is now a Kennel Associate at the shelter. He's as compassionate with the pets in his care here, as he is Daz! |

This month we had two fabulous surprises from kids in our community.

Carter Dix, one of our Kids and Kritters Campers, took it upon himself to create art work and then sell them to his friends for $1.00 each. He raised $26 and gave it ALL to the Humane Society of Sedona. Thank you Carter!
Sedona Charter School
Jacquie, our Volunteer Coordinator, received a stack of hand-written notes (look carefully in her left hand) and a big poster from Ms. Marsha's class at Sedona Charter School thanking the shelter for receiving the "Kind News" newsletter. We've had this newsletter mailed to all the local schools for kindergarten through sixth grade for the past 10 years. It tickled us to get such a nice gesture of thanks. |

Kim Kori, renowned sculptor, and Ken Rowe of Rowe Gallery, both shared proceeds from two of their gorgeous sculptures, "Vantage Point" and "Heat of the Moment." They presented checks to the Humane Society this week. Thank you Kim and Ken! |
