"There is one student who seems so receptive to what we're doing and makes some of the best comments! When we taught them to do tree pose, she said, "I feel like a leaf!" and when we asked her what she meant, she said, "I just feel so light like I could fly away, but I'm still standing up really strong and tall!""
--Jeannette, Street Yoga Teacher
Dear friend,
Here at Street Yoga, our greatest joy is witnessing first-hand the positive changes we help start in youth. Through our Weekly Classes for Youth program, our amazing volunteer teachers hold space and time for self-discovery, self-care and self-love in young people's lives.
It honors us to see graduates from our Trauma-Informed Yoga Training reaching out and serving their communities in the same capacity. Our trainings have helped equip volunteers for other organizations across the nation including I Grow Chicago, Urban Lotus Project in Reno, NV and HAVEN (Help Against Violence Encounters Now!) in The Dalles, OR.
Join our movement! Participate in one of our Trauma-Informed Yoga Trainings, volunteer teach for our weekly classes in the greater Seattle area, or host a training in your hometown. Take part in changing lives, one breath at a time!
With gratitude,

Addiction Recovery, Trauma Healing
and Yoga
The statistics are staggering. Reports indicate that as many as one in three suffer from some type of addiction disorder. Addiction is a multi-faceted condition with many forms, including: alcohol, illegal and prescription drugs, eating disorders, compulsive spending, gambling, exercise bulimia, sex, love, porn as well as addiction to relationships and roles. Addiction causes social, psychological and physical harm. It affects people of all ages, backgrounds and socio-economic status. And...yes, it is hugely present in the yoga community. An equal opportunity destroyer, addiction affects not only the addict, it shakes families, friends and ultimately society as a whole.
|
This workshop uses presentation, discussion and experiential practices to explore finding the truth behind addiction. It presents a rich, powerful framework for self-inquiry and explores daily practices to enhance physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
