New Partnerships, New Opportunities
Seattle Newsletter

Dear friend

Street Yoga is embarking on an exciting season of opportunity.  First, we are pursing a merger with Living Yoga, a Portland-based Yoga Service organization with a mission that aligns closely with our own.  Both agencies strive to create access to the healing benefits of yoga for those who need it most-- and believe that by serving the PacNW united, we can better utilize our resources and expand the number of people we serve.  We want to thank the yoga communities of Seattle, Portland and the surrounding areas for your support, encouragement and enthusiasm in light of this announcement, and ask for your continued support as we navigate this uncharted territory!

Second, YogaLOVE opened the doors for many new and continued partnerships in the Seattle area!  We tremendously grateful to everyone who came together on June 7th to make the practice of 108 Sun Salutes a great success!  We raised funds for 1260 young people to receive a month of weekly yoga classes.

Thanks to our teachers, sponsors and in-kind donors, to our volunteers and all of the Street Yoga community who came to practice, supported a participant financially, and sent your well wishes.  We overwhelmed by your love for Street Yoga and our mission!

In gratitude

Jessica & Stephanie

LIVING YOGA

Last week we announced that Street Yoga is discussing a merger with Living Yoga-- a yoga service organization in Portland.

The organizations have  much in alignment including complimentary missions and services. Street Yoga is excited about the potential of a combined organization and are earnestly engaged with Living Yoga's Board of Directors to discuss the benefits of a merger for the Pac NW.

Over the next few months both organizations are committed to a thoughtful discernment process that will include a deeper visioning of what a combined organization could accomplish and how. It's our hope that the outcome will be a powerful partnership that allows us to grow to meet the needs of the PacNW and to serve greater numbers of students while using community resources more efficiently.

YOGALOVE RECAP

"YogaLOVE was amazing!!! 108 sun salutations, as it turns out, is a LOT of sun salutations."

Nicole Barton, a Street Yoga Volunteer Teacher and YogaLOVE participant, has written a beautiful reflection of her experience flowing and floating through 108 Sun Salutations.  Check it out here.

Nicole says, "I learned a lot about myself on the mat at YogaLOVE and I took with me an overwhelming sense of community, a renewed love of yoga, and some very sore muscles, but sore with purpose."

Didn't make it to YogaLOVE?  See what you missed.
