Dear friend

This week at Street Yoga we've been reflecting on the stories and experiences of our volunteer teachers, as they are "on the ground" living out Street Yoga's mission.  Sometimes this work of teaching yoga to young people is hard, it can be chaotic, disheartening, and scary.  Other times our work is life-giving, energizing and inspiring.  Always, our work is fruitful.  A piece of fruit isn't grown in one day or one month, it takes a season.

At Street Yoga we are blessed to have a community around us who understands that healing from past traumas, learning self-calming techniques, breathing exercises and mediations, takes the journey of one's whole life.  We see fruit throughout different seasons, and realize there is more fruit to come.

May and June are big months for the Street Yoga, Seattle.  YogaLOVE 2014, a yoga-a-thon of 108 Sun Salutations is June 7th.  We're bringing hundreds of Seattle yogis together for sweat-filled challenge and to raise funds to support Street Yoga programs.  If you don't live in Seattle, have another commitment on June 7th, or 108 Sun Salutes just isn't your thing, then please consider giving to Street Yoga on the Seattle Foundation's Give BIG day on May 6th.

Help us as we help the youth of Seattle.  You've seen the fruit yoga has produced in your life, together lets pay it forward.

In gratitude,

Jessica Osberg

Seattle Interim Director

How it works:  The Seattle Foundation has set aside $500,000 for this year's Give BIG event.  On May 6th, local non-profits reach out to their communities and ask people in their network to give to their organization through the Give BIG website.  The percent of donations give to Street Yoga via Give BIG, is the percent of the pot (the $500,000 that Street Yoga receives from the Seattle Foundation.  It is not a donation "match," it is a donation "stretch."

The Seattle Branch now has it's own Facebook page!
