DOL Tour of UA Local 469 Training Center

Torres Consulting and Law Group highlighted its clients to train skilled workers of the future during a tour of the UA Local 469 training center on Friday, Oct. 30, with Deputy Secretary of Labor Chris Lu and Congressman Ruben Gallego.

 

The Arizona Pipe Trade Apprenticeship program is a top-notch training facility in the plumbing, pipefitting, and HVAC-refrigeration trades. It provides real-world, hands-on experience in addition to education, information and classroom sessions. The center is recognized throughout the region for its numerous innovative training and development programs. 

 

Training Center Director Doug Anderson led the tour with approximately 60 students on campus that day. 

TCLG shares secrets to successful compliance with UA organizers
 
Managing Partner Israel Torres and General Counsel Jim Barton went to Orlando, Fla. in October to present to UA organizers.  Israel and Jim lead discussions in eight different sessions on prevailing wage compliance issues and strategies.  
 

PR team creates media campaign for San Diego Ironworkers Grand Opening
 
Torres Consulting and Law Group's Public Relations team developed a media and strategic communications campaign to help draw attention to the completion of a new $7-milllion state-of-the-art training center in San Diego. The event attracted local media, including the Univision and Fox station.
   
The plan - created for Ironworkers Local 229 - included creating social-media messaging, issuing news alerts, facilitating media interviews and a broadcasting live video from the event. TCLG's team also took photos, created talking points and developed media kits specifically for the event. Additional promotional videos are in the works.
  
The new training center, which opened earlier this fall, showcases the Ironworkers' commitment for investing in educational opportunities to create a reliable, skilled workforce for its partner contractors. That's especially important as the construction industry faces a shortage of skilled workers, in part due to Baby Boomers retiring.



Building Trades Golf Tournament supports working families in need
 
TCLG supports the Arizona Building & Construction Trades Council daily through our work with the organization. But the firm also recently showed its support by sponsoring the BTC's annual golf tournament for the eighth year.
 
Arizona Building Trades raised $50,625 this year to help support Labor's Community Service Agency (LCSA). LCSA was built upon a partnership between United Way and AFL-CIO to provide outreach and referral services to union members throughout the community. It's main focus is union members suffering hardships.

   

Torres Law Group sponsors Democratic Hall of Fame Dinner
 
TLG and UA Local 469 were event sponsors at the Arizona Democratic Party's 2015 Hall of Fame Dinner on Oct. 30. 

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi was the featured event speaker. Of special note, former Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Fred Duval specifically recognized labor leaders in the audience and thanked them for the work they do.
