TCLG tip helps pipefitters recover nearly

$500,000 in back wages, benefits  

   
Information uncovered by TCLG's Davis-Bacon compliance team triggered a U.S. Department of Labor investigation on the construction of a data center in Utah. In the end, the DOL found the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers used the wrong wage determination, and nine contractors shorted workers nearly $500,000 in back wages and benefits. 

Oklahoma wage-theft case exceeds $51,000   

 

The TCLG Davis-Bacon compliance team was instrumental in recovering more than $51,000 lost through wage theft on a federal construction project in Oklahoma.

 

The U.S. Department of Labor, in response to a complaint filed by TCLG, found that California-based Helix Electric Inc., which was working on two projects at Fort Sill, violated both the Davis-Bacon Act and the Contractor Work Hours and Standards Act.

 


Putting back dollars in workers' wallets     


More than 269,000 workers recovered nearly $250 million in back wages in fiscal year 2013, that's up nearly 45 percent since fiscal year 2009, according to a recent report from the U.S. Department of Labor.

A complaint filed by TCLG on a project at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kan., led to the recovery of nearly $40,000 lost to wage theft.

Federal investigators found a Florida-based contractor failed to pay the full journeyman fringe benefit package, among other violations.

UA taps TCLG for education effort

Prevailing wage surveys conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor affect the paychecks of working families. Participating in these surveys is critical, but it can be daunting.
