JDCAP is hosting our annual Juvenile Justice Conference Sept 24-27 at the Penn Stater, State College PA with special sessions available for 3800 licensed facilities providing services for juvenile justice referrals.

 

Please share this announcement with all impacted juvenile justice facilities.

 

In response to the Bureau of Human Service Licensing recent announcement regarding the implementation of PREA Standards for Juvenile Justice Facilities, JDCAP is shifting the focus of our annual conference to offer an agenda focused on PREA implementation in PA. JDCAP is working with the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, the PREA Resource Center and DPW to offer sessions designed to address PA specific issues for PREA implementation.

The next JDCAP Training Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday November 13, 10A-2P at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justices Services Center. The training committee will be sent a proposed agenda in advance of this meeting.

 

The next JDCAP Standards Committee is Wednesday Sept 11 at 10:00 AM at the Abraxas Academy in Morgantown PA. During this upcoming meeting, we will review the Food Service standards.

OJJDP Updates Statistical Briefing Book

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention has updated its Statistical Briefing Book (SBB). Developed by the National Center for Juvenile Justice, SBB offers easy access to a variety of juvenile justice resources. Its data analysis tools allow users to create custom analyses of juvenile populations, arrests, court cases, and residential placement.

The following SBB resources have recently been updated:

Series of Briefs on Trauma-Informed Approach Available Online

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), a program of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Mental Health Services, has released six online briefs that discuss the key elements of a trauma-informed juvenile justice system. Topics include current issues and new directions in creating trauma-informed systems, assessment and interventions, family engagement, continuity of care and cross-system collaboration, trauma-informed care in facilities, and racial disparities within the system.
