Webinar To Explore Partnering With Families for Juvenile Justice System Change
On May 8, 2013, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. ET, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) in collaboration with the National Center for Youth in Custody will present "Family Comes First: Transforming the Justice System by Partnering with Families." Presenters will review a new Campaign for Youth Justice report on a nationwide study of best practices in family-system partnerships, showcase examples from jurisdictions that have been intentional about infusing family voice into their systems, explain five features of a transformed juvenile justice system, and introduce the FAMILY Model, which jurisdictions can use to assess their own systems from a family perspective.

During this meeting, we will finalize the Safety, Security and Control section of the standards.
The next JDCAP Training Committee meeting is scheduled for April 24 at CCAP North Office. The training committee will be sent a proposed agenda in advance of this meeting. We are expecting a full agenda and lively discussion.

DOL Announces Funding for Programs Supporting Reintegration of System-Involved Youth
The Department of Labor (DOL) has announced its fiscal year 2013 "Face Forward " funding opportunity. DOL will fund programs that offer services and training to improve the long-term job prospects of system-involved youth. The programs must incorporate diversion and/or record expungement strategies into their services. Applications are due by 4 p.m. ET on May 10, 2013.
Safe Start Webinar To Discuss Children's Exposure to Violence
On April 18, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. ET, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention-funded Safe Start Center will present the 1-hour Webinar " Unlocking the Development of Children Exposed to Violence." Panelists will discuss the impact of exposure to violence on child development and offer ways schools and the child welfare system can better respond to trauma.
