Conference Award Nomination
Below is the nomination that JDCAP received for Ashley Kozlowski - Herbert A. Schaffner Youth Center, Staff Person of the Year.
Ashley Kozlowski joined Schaffner in May of 2008 as the Client Information Coordinator. Her role began as a clerical position mainly processing the intakes and releases of the facility. Since that time Schaffner has undergone significant changes to both our program and her position. She has proven herself invaluable and we are proud to have her. Her role is certainly multidimensional and stretches far beyond this submission but below is a glimpse into her significance to Schaffner.
As the detention hearing liaison, Ashley guides the service provider employees, families, and juveniles through the court process three days a week. She was a key person in the transition process related to Schaffner converting from a detention center to a shelter only facility. Her input relating to the court process was crucial. She is the main point of contact for the transportation company that shuttles residents from secure detention facilities to Schaffner to participate in their detention hearings. She ensures relevant information is communicated to all interested parties and allows the hearings to be conducted in an extremely efficient manner while always providing excellent customer service to both out internal and external customers.
Mental Health evaluations are another aspect of Ashley's ever evolving position. She coordinates the court ordered evaluations of juveniles residing at Schaffner, detention centers, and those individuals not in an out of home placement. The evaluations require information to be gathered from several sources and communicated immediately to the appropriate agencies. This entire process is typically completed with 24 hours of receiving the request packet. .
Ashley exemplifies support to her fellow coworkers and management in a way to be commended. She has shown that she can not only adapt to change but support management staff with implementing these changes throughout the facility. She is an extremely important member of our team and proves this each and every day.
Thank you Ashley for all your hard work, it is greatly appreciated!
