Breathing New Life into the Festival Life
At our faculty and staff review days, we took up the question of the festival life. In this area (as with many others in this busy world we live in) we wondered, How can make the most of what we do? In our effort to establish a Festival schedule that is more practical and sustainable, which we hope will increase everyone's capacity for joy and celebration at festival time, we've put in place a two-year, staggered term (much like a Parent Association Rep's term) with two classes assigned to each festival--so that in the pair, there will always be one class who has done the festival already, and plenty of collaborative volunteer to hold it. The schedule will look like this:

     Grades 4 + 5       Michaelmas
     Grades 2 + 3       Advent Spiral
     Grades 6 + 7       May Faire
Grades 1 + 8       Graduation & Rose Ceremony, and Grandparents' Day

To get the ball rolling this upcoming year, we've had to switch things around a little to create a situation where we're transmitting our knowledge. For just the 2013-14 school year, the festival schedule will look like this:

     Grades 3 + 4       Michaelmas (Friday, 9/27 this year)
     Grades 2 + 5       Advent Spiral (Thursday-Friday 12/19-20)
     Grades 6 + 7       May Faire (Saturday, May 3)
Grades 1 + 8       Graduation & Rose Ceremony, and Grandparents' Day                                    (Saturday 6/14, Friday 9/4, and Friday 4/25)

Talk to your class teacher if you have any questions about this exciting new change!
