Robots, Kickstarter, and Bootstrapping Across the Globe

by Connie Hu D'11, ArcBotics, COO and Co-Founder

A d v i s o r s   N e e d e d

Dear Dartmouth friends,

I'd like to share with you the story of how I came to work on robots. And, to seek your advice on where we should go next.

I head up an open source robotics startup called ArcBotics. We believe that everyone should be able to access, learn from, and enjoy robotics, so we

Hexy is a low-cost, Arduino hexapod kit that kids 15+ and adults use to explore advanced programming and kinematics.
make robots that are affordable, useful for learning STEM, open- source, easy to use, and - last but not least - cute.

We can't believe how far we've come this past year. Sparki will be piloted in schools from the US to Norway and Taiwan, and we've tripled our global distributor base for Hexy. We've received nods from the New York Times, Fast Company, Wired, Boston Globe, and others.

But, we still have many strategic questions to tackle. We need advisors, especially those who have experience in global business development, marketing, and operations.

C a r e e r   O p p o r t u n i t y
Operations Associate

More Americans are renting now than ever before. Apartment List is building a technology platform to power that rental revolution. We are solving a problem that all renters face: finding a great place to live.  Finding and moving into your perfect rental home should be easy.

Having launched in September 2011 at  TechCrunch Disrupt, we've grown to over 2 million monthly renters in just over 2 years. We know that great things come from great people, and we've got the best around. Our team of 60+ employees comes from top universities and top companies.

We are looking to grow our operations team, and want individuals who love solving complex problems and are motivated and energized by the opportunity to dive into something new. Candidates should have 2+ years of experience at a top tier management consulting company, investment bank, tech startup, or in a data intensive role, with a background/ advanced degree in business, econ, statistics, operations research, math, stats or another highly analytical field.

You'll work closely with members of the Executive and Senior Ops team, solving the company's most important operational problems. Day-to-day will involve diving deep into analytical challenges analyzing large data sets, synthesizing ideas and working with the Product, Ops and Engineering teams to implement your solutions.

Along with working with an awesome team, the position offers tons of autonomy, direct exposure to senior management, and outstanding compensation.  On top of all this, we have a great culture: ping pong, foosball, fully stocked fridge, weekly Q&Ales, annual Tahoe trip, family Thanksgiving dinner, and much much more!

If you are interested in applying, please email Chris Brouwer D'09.
