Out on a Limb

Greetings!

            Greeting from Mark Halla

"Hello" and "Thank You" for subscribing to our e-newsletter!

As I write this greeting, I can't help but reflect upon Father's Day and an experience I had at the Garden Center a few years back. It seemed fitting to repeat this greeting:

As I walked around with our customers, a young married couple with a newborn son, the man lifted up his son in both hands and gazed into his boys face, cooing and smiling, giggling and teasing.  The baby responded with a sweet smile and cute little noises that cannot be described by words...if you are a parent, you know what I mean!

It was such a simple and normal act of fatherhood, but I was surprised by my response.  I had to turn away as tears flooded my eyes and I reflected upon the relationship before me...the father was so proud of his boy and I imagined that there is nothing the boy will ever do that will cause his dad not to love him unconditionally...the boy was safe and secure and had no worries for his future, all was well with his soul!!!

My mind quickly turned to our Daddy in heaven and I imagined Him holding me, and you and all of His children, in the palm of His mighty hand, cooing and smiling and pleased with His creation.  I reflected upon His unconditional love for us and the fact that there is nothing, absolutely nothing that can separate us from the Father's love, it is truly unconditional!

Sometimes I break fellowship with God through my sin, but it is so comforting to know that no matter what I do, He will continue to love me into repentance and welcome me back into His arms; a place of love and acceptance, affirmation and consolation, safety and peace...when I reflect on the Love of God for me, all is well with my soul, too!

This day, I pray that you, also, will reflect upon God's love for you.  He created you, He adores you, and He wants to spend eternity with you.

He is the only perfect Father, He is your Father, and, if you haven't already done so, let Him adopt you today...if you aren't sure how, ask me or someone else who has accepted Christ as their Savior and we can help you start your journey.

God Bless You,
Mark Halla

IN SEASON

Summer Lawn Care: Tips to consider

Yes, this spring and now early summer have presented challenges to homeowners with caring for yards and outdoor spaces. On the bright side, you haven't had to really water your lawn very much yet, right? In fact, Minnesota lawns usually don't need water except later in the summer, according to the University of Minnesota and Gardenguides.com. The University estimates that lawns need about 4 to 6 inches of water during the summer months, and receive about 4 inches of water monthly from rain during the same time period. But this year? All bets are off.

Fertilization

Beyond watering, an application of standard lawn fertilizer, administered every eight to 10 weeks during the spring, summer and fall growing seasons, will help encourage a lush and dense lawn that's resilient to weeds and diseases, the University recommends.

Weed Control

You can best control weeds by maintaining a thick and dense lawn, which crowds out all invading plant species, Gardenguides.com advises. If weed control is needed, a combination of pre-emergent herbicides and post-emergent chemicals will keep weeds in check.

We have what you need

Whether you need grass seed, fertilizer, weed control products, etc. we have the products and tools you need to grow and nurture a beautiful green lawn. So come in and see us. Or, let us do the lawn work for you.

Planters, Container Gardens add burst of color

Green-thumb types are getting quite creative these days in how and where they do their planting. Case in point: Planters and container gardens are perfect spots for "growing color" all over your home. Planters and containers are showing up on patios, decks, along driveways, in porches, next to garages, in window boxes, well, you get the idea. And the available types of containers abound: raised, wall-mounted, hanging baskets, wood, terracotta, the list goes on. Visit us soon at The Mustard Seed and let's brainstorm together.
