MARCH 2014 E-NEWS Creative Life Skills for Personal, Professional, and Social Change
We are often asked:  What exactly is Intermodal Expressive Arts?

Great question!  There are lots of ways to answer it. Perhaps the simplest answer is this: Our creativity itself is a powerful force for health and well being, and it does not limit itself to one art form.

 To say a little more:
The creative process, at its essence, is holistic.  When we follow our creativity, we express ourselves in visual art, movement, sound, writing, and more. What begins with paint may become a poem. What begins with a drumbeat may become a dance. No arts experience of any kind is necessary.
Each arts modality touches and evokes change in a different aspect of the whole person. This is what makes Expressive Arts so powerful as a creative life process.
Every April, we offer our Intermodal Expressive Arts Intensive. One of the core courses in our Certificate Training Program, it is also open to anyone who is interested in taking a dive in to the Expressive Arts! We LOVE teaching this workshop/course as we hold the space for a small group of participants to invite the power of the intermodal arts into their lives. We have a few spaces left in our April 3-6 session. Learn more here. We invite your questions! It is just one week, we will host Pat B. Allen! Come join us on Friday March 14, 7-9 pm and give Pat a warm Sarasota welcome! As of today, there are a just a couple of spaces in the Saturday March 15 workshop, so register today if you plan to attend!

She is a college counselor at the University of Central Florida and Psychological Services. She combines her passion for counseling college students with the power of using arts as a healing modality. For the past two years, Meredith has curated the Healing Art Exhibition on the UCF campus. The current exhibit - Journey to Acceptance - can be viewed in the UCF Counseling Center until November, 2014. Meredith says: "We all have stories to tell in our own ways and using art can be a safe way to do that,"  Read more about Meredith, and the current exhibit - Journey to Acceptance - here. We applaud Meredith for her wonderful work integrating art and wellness.

  Student Accommodation Needed
We are looking for resources for our out-of-town Certificate students. Hotels in Sarasota are high-priced, and our students are searching out affordable alternatives. Do you have accommodation that you would like to add to our housing list? Our intensives are generally in April, October, and January, and our students are looking for 4-5 days, and sometimes up to 2 weeks. Let us know if you have an apartment or room for rent, or to share. Thanks!
