Networking is a monthly event for practitioners and students of the expressive arts and related fields. Come and share what you are doing, get support, and experience a facilitated experience by a guest presenter.
We are excited to welcome: Donna Papenhausen as our guest facilitator this month! "I will offer a process that I use as my daily practice. I call it a "Spontaneous Word and Picture Collage." This process builds upon the "Spontaneous Word Poem Process" taught at Expressive Arts Florida Institute. I collect words and phrases in one place and photos in another. Most all of the words are positive affirmations or open ended phrases. The images are ones that catch my eye or that represent archetypes. Each day, after pausing for a moment to focus and set an intention, I randomly select 3-5 images and arrange them on a page intuitively. Then I select a small "pinch" of words and phrases without looking and arrange them in ways that carry meaning for me. Then I glue them to the photo collage in appropriate places. I add connecting words so the words form thoughts. Nearly every day I receive surprising insights and or affirmation into life, work, relationships, or my creative path, from a deep place of Wisdom. Occasionally, when meaning eludes me, it surfaces by day's end or within a few days. And sometimes it is simply a pleasant pastime allowing me to stir my creative juices. I look forward to sharing this process with you at the February networking event."
Donna Papenhausen lives in Sarasota and serves as Expressive Arts Pastor at St. Andrew United Church of Christ. Upcoming Guest Facilitators for Networking:March 26: LInda Maree Once upon a time . . . there was a child who loved stories. One day the child came upon a path bathed in moonlight and sparkling with bits of magick, pieces of myth, and trickles of metaphor and decided that this was the Write Path for her. Published writer and wordplay enthusiast Linda Maree takes us on a guided journey on the path, using movement and writing to call forth the stories we all carry in our bones, in our blood, in our DNA. No writing or dance experience needed. A graduate of USF, Linda wrote a monthly environmental column and was on the continuing education faculty at the Ringling College for many years. She is currently a writing coach and facilitates groups, workshops, and retreats for women for exploring creativity and the power of our stories.
