SU
FALL FESTIVAL

It is almost time again for one of our biggest events of the year! The Woodlawn Fall Festival will be at Aaron Bessant Park, in Pier Park, from 10am till 2pm on Saturday, November 1st.  Last year approximately 4,500 people came to this event. This is a day where the church has a chance to come together and share the love of Christ with our community!  We hope you can join us on the 1st!  It takes the full church working together to make this event possible so please Click here to volunteer or donate.

WOODLAWN WAY

Have you checked out our new program called The Woodlawn Way? This class guides people through a 4 part journey of understanding commitment to Christ, commitment to the Woodlawn community, and commitment to serving others. We have seen numerous people come to faith in Christ as well as connect with the Woodlawn family through church membership. In fact, since January, we have had more than 50 people join our family!

Many people ask, "Why does the church value formal membership?" There are several reasons but the most important reason to us is to reach as many people for Christ as we can. Church membership allows us the opportunity to share the Gospel with people seeking to be part of a church family.

The Woodlawn Way has proven to be a concise and effective way to learn all about faith in Christ and how to be part of the Woodlawn family.

Who can attend The Woodlawn Way? Anyone! You may be a longtime member of Woodlawn or just starting to explore our church. Either way, you are welcome! Come find out what God has in store for you through The Woodlawn Way!

The next upcoming date is:
Saturday, October 25th - 8:00am-1:00pm (All in one class) - childcare provided.  Check out the 4 parts to The Woodlawn Way here.

To sign up for this class or to ask questions, email Debbie at [email protected]

Serving Opportunities

Celebrate Recovery needs people who can prepare and serve dinner. Dinner preparation can range from preparing dinner to receiving the pizzas or other food that is delivered. Serving includes serving the dinner from the 5:00-5:45 hour. If you can help us, even just once a month, please contact Chris Langford, 850-276-8856 or at [email protected]

Celebration Place (CP) is the K-5 ministry of Celebrate Recovery (CR).  CP needs a leader to provide this ministry to the children on Thursday nights from 5:45-8:45.  We also need some helpers who can assist the leader.  All teaching material and supplies will be provided.  This is a critical need position -- without this ministry, then many of the adults who are seeking recovery cannot attend CR.  If you have a heart for children, PLEASE consider serving in this area.  For more information, please contact Chris Langford  - 276-8856 or [email protected]

FROM RAY WILLIAMS TO MY BELOVED
WUMC CHURCH FAMILY
thanks

Years ago we became known as "the church that love is building". Those words seemed the embodiment of my view of what WUMC had been, was being and would always be. But somehow I let those words drift on the surface of my life without allowing them to penetrate my heart. How easily we adopt mottos and missions without fully understanding their meaning. I think I embraced those words, the church that love is building, because they made me feel good about me.

Our Creator fills us with His love every moment and fully expects us to give it away, assured that He will refill us for another divine appointment - as Pastor Joe has taught me to see them. Here's how I have experienced you fulfilling God's expectations of sharing His love. The sincerity and magnitude of your expressions of concern, your display of love and your prayers for my recovery during my illness united with your prayers for Janet's strength and patience leave me with an un-imagined sense of utter humility.  Throughout my little event (and continuing daily) God is working through you teaching me one of the many things that I need to continue learning. You are teaching me that when I think I have attained one of the saintly traits of an authentic Christian is probably when I am furthest from it. The delusion of self-accomplishment seen in the mirror of self-congratulation might be nothing more than cleverly disguised arrogance and hubris. Hardly a Christian role model for expanding God's kingdom.

Woodlawn United Methodist Church, my family, is indeed the church that love is building...God is using you for building me so I can become closer to the man God intends for me to be.  Thank you for your lesson in humility and your overwhelming love, support and concern. Thank you Pastor Joe for allowing me to include this in the church communique.

I love you.

Ray Williams
