Beneficiary of the Month Sonya
After doing the something over and over and accepting a different result, Sonya realized that her life was in complete chaos. Being broken down and in bondage to her addiction something had to change. So the choice was made to come to the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center (ARC).
Since coming to the ARC, Sonya has started putting her spiritual life together. The programs were far more than what she thought they would be. It was not just another program. It had given her freedom that was not anticipated. The ability to love others for whom they are, not what you want them to be. This new attitude also opened the doors to a new found love and respect to give a new lease on life. Sonya stated, "Before I came into the ARC, I did not care about myself, or anyone, but to know that "God does not make junk." We all have a purpose in life..."
Working in the warehouse, sorting through the clothes, hanging and placing on the store floor for our customers to purchase, and now working in the call center setting up donation pick-ups, Sonya has learned flexibility in the work place and being open to change.
Focusing on her well-being, and spiritual life, this award was presented to her unexpectedly. "Unbelievably surprised that people noticed that God is amazing to me..." she said,"...To God be The Glory!"
Although Sonya loving to win a good game of domino's. She looks forward to being in the lives of her family. Now that she is letting go of those old places, thing, and people that were in her life, she will have time to be part of her kids and grand-kids life.
