What are your pre-Halloween plans tomorrow night? How about a classic film

night for you, you and a few friends, or your entire family?

Tomorrow, Friday, October 30th, our Family Film Night will start in the Guild Hall at 7:00 PM with popcorn from a classic Kettle Cart, vintage candy, and beverages.

At 7:30 we will show a 15-minute short comedy, The Haunted House, which is appropriate for all ages and a great opportunity to introduce children to the art of Silent Films. This film has a classic cops and robbers theme! (~15 minutes)

Then....
Children have the option, after the short, to head downstairs to the Hospitality Center with CCC staff Jessica Neeper, Jill Bednas, and Pastor Manisha for an evening of Halloween games, treats and their own Feature Presentation: Hotel Transylvania.

In the church on a large screen, the Feature Presentation will be Nosferatu with organ accompaniment by guest organist Stephen Warner (~90 minutes). If you are unfamiliar with this film, fasten your seatbelts - it is THE ORIGINAL
"Dracula." Directed by German artist, F.W. Murnau, the film is an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Shortly after it's release in 1922, a court ruled in favor of Stoker's lawsuit and ordered all copies be destroyed. Fortunately, at least one copy survived largely in-tact. Modern technology has helped preserve the film even further, and was released in 2013 in high definition. Film critic Roger Ebert writes, "Here is the story of Dracula before it was buried alive in clichés, jokes, TV skits, cartoons."

Stephen Warner is the organist at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church in Detroit and a staff organist at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. In
2003, Mr. Warner completed dual bachelor's degree in organ performance and in mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan. In recent years, his performance focus has turned to accompanying silent films. His accompaniment of Nosferatu at Christ Church Cranbrook will mark his third and final performance this season, after appearances at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor and The Toledo Museum of Art the week before.

Doors open at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door - $12 for adults, $5 for children under 12. Costumes are encouraged!

See you Friday evening!
Blessings!
