Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Middle School Beit Knesset
Rabbi Dr. Alex Mondrow

Join us for our fall semester series of lectures for adults on Tuesday mornings at Yeshivat Noam! Beginning on October 13, Rabbi Dr. Alex Mondrow, YN Middle School psychologist and teacher, will deliver an eight-week series of classes exploring the meaning behind some of our religious actions and experiences. The series begins with a focus on Shabbat, and shares insights into Erev Shabbat, examines the meaning behind some of the laws of Shabbat, and rediscovers the nuance behind the Torah's statements about Shabbat, with special attention to the psychological dimensions of the day.

This shiur series is free of charge and is open to the entire community, so bring your friends! Brought to you by the Yeshivat Noam Parent Education Committee. For questions or more information, please email psp@yeshivatnoam.org

His studies have focused on psychoeducational assessment and evaluation, substance abuse in adolesc
ence, and parenting techniques.

Yeshivat Noam Celebrates Hakhel

On Erev Sukkot, the students, faculty and staff, Buds through 8th grade, all gathered together for a moving program to learn about and remember the mitzvah of Hakhel. This year, 5776, the year after a shmita year, is a "hakhel" year, which takes place once every seven years. In the time of the Beit Hamikdash all of the Jewish people would gatehr together on Chol Hamoed Sukkot to hear the King read from the Torah.

At Yeshivat Noam, we gathered together and sang and danced with the Torah and read from the Torah. Like a real Hakhel experience, we are sure that our public display of Kavod (honor) HaTorah and Ahavat (love) HaTorah left an indelible impression on our students.

May we merit to celebrate the next Hakhel in the Beit Hamikdash.
