Storm Water Tip
of the Month
Provided by the City of Buellton
Storm Water Tip of the Month
Remember to wash floor mats, kitchen mats, and garbage cans in a mop sink, janitorial sink or near a kitchen floor drain.  These receptacles drain to the sanitary sewer where waste is treated.  Do not wash items or pour wash water in a parking lot, alley, sidewalk or street because these areas drain to the storm drain system.
Water Conservation
If you have a large area of turf to irrigate, you could benefit from Cachuma Resource Conservation District's turf irrigation evaluation.  All you need is to have the layout of your irrigation system and information on your irrigation schedule, then contact them at 805-928-9269.  They will come out to your property to evaluate sprinkler systems, conduct a soil survey and compare your irrigation schedule to actual water requirements.
They will then provide recommendations on system design, operation and maintenance, including a projection of potential savings.

For more information on the Storm Water Management Program, contact (805)697-1407 or email:  SWMP@cityofbuellton.com

"Everyone is so friendly around here." "There is so much to do here."  "We need to spend more time here."  "You live in a beautiful place."

These are just some of the comments we hear from our visitors on a daily basis at the visitors center.

We truly love where we live and feel honored to be able to market our city to the world.  It is through continued marketing efforts that we see an increase in traffic which is good for our businesses.  Although, at times we grumble about the traffic, we have to remember, that we are a destination.  This industry provides jobs and generates revenue for our businesses and city which in turn allows us as residents, the luxury of living in a clean, safe community with programs and amenities to enjoy.

We hope you take advantage of the additional traffic we see coming into Buellton and help us continue to build a strong economy.  Be creative, work in partnership, and stay relevant.  This is our busy season so make the best of it.  Summer's here!

Remember to keep us posted at the Chamber of any specials, events, or other happenings we can help share.  We are active on social media, so feed us any information you can and we'll help spread the word.

New program offers seamless transfers between 23 daily Pacific Surfliner trains and 12 connecting bus and shuttle services in six southern California counties

SANTA BARBARA, CA. - Passengers on the Pacific Surfliner rail service operating between San Luis Obispo and San Diego can now make free transfers to twelve connecting local public transit providers thanks to a new program introduced by the Joint Powers Agency that oversees the service.  The free service is in effect now throughout the South Coast and in Guadalupe.

The Pacific Surfliner transit transfer program provides free transfers between 23 daily Pacific Surfliner trains and twelve connecting local transit providers along a 351-mile route in the counties of San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.

Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) board member Supervisor Salud Carbajal represents SBCAG on the Rail Corridor Agency board of directors.  "Most people don't know this but the Pacific Surfliner is the nation's second busiest rail service, and free transfers to and from local transit services like MTD and Guadalupe Transit will make a great service even better" said Carbajal, who regularly rides the Surfliner to board meetings in Los Angeles.  "It's now that much easier for tourists and regular train riders to get where they want to go."

Passengers can board participating transit services for free simply by showing a valid Pacific Surfliner paper or e-ticket. The program is being introduced on a one-year pilot basis and is funded by a cap-and trade grant received from the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA).

Public transit providers participating in the free transfer program include:  San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority, City of San Luis Obispo Transit, South County Transit (San Luis Obispo County), Guadalupe Transit, Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District, Ventura County Transportation Commission, Gold Coast Transit (Ventura County), Glendale Beeline, Anaheim Resort Transportation, Orange County Transportation Authority, iShuttle (Irvine) and North County Transit District.

In addition, discounted one-day transit passes valid on Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority services and the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System will be sold onboard the Pacific Surfliner in the café car.

The Pacific Surfliner carries 2.8 million passengers annually in a 351 mile corridor, with ten one-way trips serving Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, and Goleta.  The authority that administers the Pacific Surfliner assumed responsibility for managing the service in July 2015 from the state of California and is composed of rail owners, operators and planning agencies in the six-county service area.

For more information, visit the service's new website at www.PacificSurfliner.com.
