Two local Boy Scouts promoted to Eagle Scout
Two local Boy Scouts are flying high after being promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout.
Boy Scouts Jonathan Reyes and Michael Limotta of Troop 42 received their Eagle Scout Award at a double ceremony outdoors in Hans Christiansen Anderson Park in Solvang.
Scoutmaster Bill Pattee awarded Jonathan Reyes and Michael Limotta with their Eagle awards. In addition, both of the new Eagle Scouts paid respect to their parents for their years of encouragement and presented each parent with an Eagle pin.
"I am proud of these two new Eagle Scouts, Jonathan and Michael. I am very grateful to the hundreds of local scout
leaders that make Boy Scouts the best youth leadership program available. I wish more youth would take advantage of the opportunity and also realize the Eagle award. Both Jonathan and Michael will be a step ahead of their peers for college admissions, jobs and leadership for the rest of their life due to their Scouting experience. This follows our tag line, 'Prepared for Life'," said David Brown, Cachuma District Chair.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program. Just 7 percent of Boy Scouts earned Eagle status in 2013, according to the Boy Scouts of America.
Congratulations to these two young men for their outstanding achievements!

Greetings!
We recently attended the WACE (Western Association of Chamber Execs) Conference. The theme of the conference was New Horizons. Looking to our future and discussing what our Chambers might look like in the years to come.
We had the privilege of hearing from some great speakers who offered insight as to how to keep moving forward in a new norm. Business is conducted in a much different way than say 10 years ago. How do we adapt? How do we break through to the next level?
Some words used frequently were: Shared Economy. Examples of shared economy are Uber and Airbnb. They have capitalized on the business of sharing the economy with Taxis and Hotels. We are going to see more of this as time goes on and especially as the Millennial generation continues to enter the workplace. This generation is not necessarily loyal to a brand, ownership is not important to them - they are ok with sharing/borrowing/renting and they are not afraid to go into debt. Yikes! Also, you parents and grandparents of millennials may like to know, they tend to remain at home much longer than Gen X and Baby Boomers ever thought of. That home office may have to wait. This generation will be innovators and look for solutions.
We need to continue to assess ourselves and our business and understand how to reach our audience. It may be different for you than your neighboring business, but with technology making rapid improvements, it is imperative to stay on top of your marketing and look to the future.
The future will hold great things and with an open mind and willingness to adapt, you will be able to break through to the next level.
We look forward to watching you grow!
