Storm Water Tip
of the Month
Provided by the City of Buellton
Get ready for El Nino now. Start by trimming back vegetation and pick-up debris and litter in and along drainage areas. Did you know that the drainage swale on your property, manmade or natural, is your responsibility to maintain? Clean it up, your effort will help prevent flooding and property damage.
Water Conservation Tip
Consider installing a rain garden that uses rainwater harvested from your home's gutter system and downspouts. A typical residential rain garden is usually between 100 and 300 square feet. For more information, please visit Santa Barbara Project Clean Water website.
Remember-Use it Wisely!

Most of us consider living in the Valley our paradise. We are fortunate to enjoy the rural lifestyle and feel the sense of community. One local family decided to give back to the community in a special way. Every Christmas they gathered in their nice homes, having driven nice new cars to arrive at their destination. On Christmas morning they would all open envelopes with a gift card for a business where their family members enjoyed shopping. A couple years ago they began talking about what they were going to get with the gift cards and they all had the same answer. "I don't know, I don't really need anything, I always just buy what I want when I need it." That's when they realized the gift card exchange was silly and the money they spent on each other was what they would have bought anyway. So they came up with an idea. They were familiar with the important contributions the Buellton Senior Center makes to the community. They reached out to Pam Gnekow and asked her if she was aware of any seniors that had pressing needs. She had a particular family in mind that had a leaky roof, an inoperable stove, (they were cooking on a single burner hotplate) and an inoperable heater. So the family pooled together the family gift card spending and worked with Pam to purchase and install a brand new stove and fix the wall heater. Pam was able to find someone to repair the roof.
As this family continues their new tradition of giving back, we hope that others will follow their lead. What many of us take for granted is a real need for many living in our Valley. "Tis always the season for helping others.

Thank you Pea Soup Andersens and AJ Spurs
A large crowd of members and guests attended the September mixer in the Buffet Bar at Pea Soup Andersens. Teaming up with sister restaurant AJ Spurs, they served up some delicious appetizers, including a jalapeno stuffed with lobster, and of course their famous Pea Soup served in a bread bowl. In addition to their full service restaurant, Andersens also has a fabulous unique gift shop and is the home to the Buellton Historical Society. We would also like to thank you to Ascendant Spirits and the Santa Barbara County Vintners for their contributions.
Thank you to all of our raffle donors. We appreciate your support.

We still have plenty of vacancies in our shopping centers. Please feel free to reach out to us if you know someone interested and we'll be sure to put them in touch with the leasing agent, owner, or realtor. Buellton has some great opportunities for businesses looking to grow. Being

We will continue to update this list as we learn of more spaces. We also have vacant land for development and would be happy to offer you more information on those parcels if you would like to contact the Chamber. Pet of the Month
Maximus DSH White Male (Neutered) 6yr
Maximus came to us via concerned neighbors. Deaf and prone to sunburn, Maximus was left behind by his owners. Neighbors took care of him but realized he needed and deserved more. He's a very affectionate cat who loves people and other cats and most dogs. He would need to be an indoor only cat in a home full of love. Maximus is microchipped and weighs about 10lbs.
